Any Spinners Out There? (of fibers, not bikes!)

| | Comments (3) | TrackBacks (0)
As you know, I have 5 Angora Goats.  3 white and 2 colored.  I am very new at this fiber stuff, but I want to be able to market it.

So, I would like to give two or three spinners a sample of my goats' mohair.  A rolag and some locks, and I would like you to let me know what you think of the quality, please.

This is mohair from their very first shearing, so it is not as long as normal.

Any takers?

You can try knittingzone.com and yarnexpressions.com here in north alabama maybe? The woman who owns knittingzone I have actually knitted with and she lives on her own farm and has her own animals too but she also buys from other people I believe. She can’t stock her WHOLE store with just her own yarn! LOL

BOTH owners of the stores listed above spin. Let me know how it works out. I’d love to have a sample of your angora, after it is spun of course. :-)

Thanks, Carol. I don’t have the funds to buy a spinning wheel at this point, and I’m not sure my arthritis can take spinning anyway!

I will check with them.

Thanks!

Greetings. I happened across your blog via Argghh! (where I lurk on occasion). I do some spinning and have a trio of goats. There are several lists on Yahoo that might have some experienced spinners that can help: Spin List and Spinning. There have been other posts on the lists for people starting out with their fiber animals, and they have good suggestions about marketing. I know some spinners go entirely by the fineness of the fiber, while others are picky about the grease/yolk and the vegetable matter (VM). Good luck with your venture, and if I can help, please let me know.
