September 2009 Archives

My handsome husband decided to join me there, and he held the Video Camera - and he got first post up, so I refer you to his post:

A bit from the 3 September Town Hall meeting in Leavenworth

I will add, that Ms. Chiquita Coggs, from Wyandotte County (the district right next to ours) spoke most eloquently, and she touched my heart. And no, she did not bring up health care at all.

There were several people I know who attended, and many lined up to ask questions. Our representative, Lynn Jenkins, was very nice to everyone, let us take pictures and video tape, even let us close blinds behind the podium so that our video would be better.

I was happy to see that she carries a copy of The US Constitution with her in her purse, and referred to it at least once.

I don’t agree with her on some things - but on the whole, I believe she represents our district better than many Congress Critters represent their districts.

On my way to a TownHall meeting

This will be a first for me. I am going to attend Rep. Lynn Jenkin’s “listening tour” townhall meeting this afternoon in Leavenworth, Kansas.

I do wish she had used some other term than “listening tour” - as that phrase was coined by Hillary Rodham Clinton, not my favorite politician.

Anyway, I will be armed with our video camera and my Nikon to record the proceedings.

I will upload it to Pajamas Media (I got approved as a citizen journalist by them) once I get home and if I can figure out how to properly edit it all.

This being a smallish town, I hope there will not be a huge crowd. But just in case, I am leaving early.

Yarn - this skein I like a lot!

teal blue yarn.JPG It’s just 100 yards of one ply of wool wrapped with one ply of mohair from Sammy, my yearling buck.

I might try my hand at felting it into a clutch purse or something like that.

Some of the yarn I am spinning

This is 100% kid mohair. The skein on the left is brushed mohair, the skein on the right is not.

Glen Reynolds had a short post that the White House is looking to harvest personal data from Social Networking Websites like Twitter and Facebook. He doesn’t think that’s as scary as it sounds.

I do.

In fact, I wonder if someone at the White House has already been fiddling around with trying to insert SSL Certificates on unsuspecting users’ computers.

Last week, I made a somewhat disparaging remark about the Obama White House (not at all an unusual thing for me to do). I shut down Twitter, then about an hour later, reopened it and saw this warning:

(Click on image to enlarge it)

I decided I did want to see the certificate, so I selected “View Certificate”, and this is what I got:

whcert.jpg

I found this to be rather disconcerting, to say the least. So I closed Tweetdeck and tried to log in to Twitter on Google Chrome - same certificate wanted to install:

Now, if this or any other SSL Certificate pops up when you are trying to access Twitter or Facebook, DO NOT install it!. I was able to resolve the issue by running Spybot.

SSL Certificates are serious. If this was truly coming from the White House, I am really pissed, scared and annoyed. If this was a prank from a Leftist Joker trying to dissuade me from my free speech rights, I am simply pissed and annoyed.

I would love to know if anyone else has experienced this. Also, who do I notify? The Freaking Government? I don’t think so! Maybe the ACLU?

UPDATE: More information on this nefarious, yes, nefarious plan the White House goons have cooked up here at Doug Ross @ Journal

UPDATE the 2nd: Thank you, Atlas Shrugged, for linking to me.
