Presidential Race
Gosh, I hope the Obamamites don't see the title of this post - it's not meant to be racial, but about the race for President, the contest. Remember how Obama and all the Dems said that there would be no race in the race? That was obviously bullshit; meaningless and worthless talk.
Now, Mr. Obama has made the grand and terribly incorrect assumption that Republicans are racists. All Republicans. In fact, anyone who does not think Obama should be anointed as our Savior to Change the evil United States must be racist.
Obama told a fundraiser in Jacksonville, Florida. "We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid."They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black?"
I am not afraid of Obama - I am afraid of his policies. I am afraid of his socialist leanings. I am afraid of the high taxes he promises. I am afraid of his anti-2nd Amendment history. I am NOT afraid of his race. I am afraid that he will isolate the USA from the rest of the world with high tariffs and with his foreign policy. I am afraid of his lies.
And yes, I do count his inexperience and obvious bad judgment in picking associates against him. You are known by the company you keep.
Obama's ties to ACORN - notorious organization known for signing up non-existent new Democrat voters in Kansas City and St. Louis - indicate to me that he thinks cheating is a fine thing to do. But that's not really new for Democrats - especially those from Chicago.
Dammit. That pisses me off. I will not vote for Mr. Obama and yet, I am not racist. I won't vote for the man because I do not like his ideas of "Change" and "Hope". To Mr. Obama, "Change" apparently means taking more of our hard-earned money and spending it on more government entitlement programs. I'm pretty sure he will make sure all the people in inner cities get a raise in their entitlements to pay them back for voting for him.
And I'm pretty sure his idea of "Hope" is that he hopes he can steal from the middle class and upper middle class and take the money and hand it over to people he believes are worthy. He probably "Hopes" that we will all just worship at his feet, as he reads from his teleprompter meaningless slogans and promises.
So I will not be voting for Mr. Obama and his mean, nasty wife. He has shown poor judgement in attending a racist church for 20 years and by making crooks and domestic terrorists his pals.
No, no, no. No Obama!

I feel a rant coming on
Gad, the choices this year for president really suck. Obama is the most left-wing member of Congress ever, and I sincerely doubt his strength and ability to preside as President of the United States - the man can't even quit smoking! Some blogs claim he is trying to hide the fact that he is still smoking.
Now, I understand that smoking is a very hard habit to stop. I smoked from the time I was 13 until I was 34 years old - at the last, I was smoking 2 or more packs a day. Now, as a "typical white person" who happens to be a woman, I was able to stop smoking all by myself without nicotine patches or pills or anything - just had to change some habits.
I am now 55 years old, so, I think I can say I was successful. How can I vote for a man who can't quite smoking - doesn't have that much fortitude?
Shit, if we were attacked by Iran, I bet Obama would surrender to them and I'd have to walk around with my head covered and sneak off to Mass in some basement before being caught by the crazy Islamists and beheaded.
Personally, I don't think lawyers should be allowed to run for President of the USA - they have a very warped picture of life in the USA. They only see the crooks and the injured by accidents. They don't realize that most of us are really pretty happy. A lot of us don't feel a need to change everything.
Oh, and speaking of change - what exactly DOES Obama want to do to change us?
His crazy, hateful wife said he will make us work and he will make us change - what the hell does that mean? Prison camps? Reeducation camps?
Oh, and McCain is also an awful candidate. He is actually thinking of making Bloomberg (nanny bloomberg) his VP candidate. If that happens, I'm voting for Hillary. I'll write her in.
I don't like her, either, but hell, the more I read, the more I hear, the more I see, the more moderate she seems.
And I'm so, so sick of the darn politicians who want to make a windfall profits tax to punish the oil companies. Good God! We tried this before - Mr. Jimmah Carter did that. I remember it well - the energy crisis of the 70s. The windfall profits tax DID NOT WORK and made us more dependent on foreign oil than ever!!!!!!!!!
Why would anyone have any incentive to produce more oil if the result is the punishment of higher taxes? It has been proved, over and over and over again that raising taxes is bad for the economy.
Just want to scream!!!

Barach Obama = fricking idjit!
I'm one of those rural people that Obama says is bitter and that's why I have guns and believe in God.
Only, I'm not bitter. Guns are fun. God is good.
What does Obama know about rural people? Nothing! In fact, the only people he knows about are the ones that attend that church that he clings to - the one with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, you know, the bigoted preacher who hates white people.
Yeah, Obama knows all about us. He thinks we are bigoted - wrong.
He knows nothing.
I do, however, resent illegal immigrants. They are breaking the law and that in itself is enough to resent the fact that Democrats think it is okay for illegals to break the law.
Must be that religion thing - that I believe there is right and wrong.

Obama, gad, I'm so sick of Obama
Obama is trying to become our president by preaching to us. He says nothing at all. And now, despite what he has been saying all along, he has brought race into it.
He is going to heal us. Obama, the Messiah?
I think not.
I think he is duplicitous. I fear he is a Marxist. I know he is a con artist.
Vote for Obama? Only if you want to be preached at day in and day out by a man who thinks he knows more than we dumb citizens.

Obama wants change
The man is very big on promising change - what kind of change, who knows?
Anyway, with apologies to the great Aretha Franklin, I suggest that Obama's theme song should be:
Change, Change, Change
change, change, change, change, change, change
change, change, change, change of fools
Five long months I thought you were my man
But I found out how empty is your “change”
You got me where you want me
I'm just Obama's fool
You treated me mean oh you treated me cruel
change, change, change, change of fools
Every change has got a weak link
I might be weak child, but I'll give you strength
You told me to leave you alone
My father said come on home
My doctor said take it easy
Too much Obama is much too strong
I'm addicted to your change, change, change
change, change, change, change,
change, change of fools
One of these mornings the change is gonna break
But up until then, yeah, I'm gonna take all I can take
change, change, change, change, change, change
change, change, change, change of fools

I'm going to start talking politics again
I do not think it will be wise for Republicans to pick McCain as their nominee for president. I feel the same way about Huckabee.
Just because McCain was a brave warrior in the worst of circumstances as a POW during Vietnam does not mean he could be President of the United States.
Huckabee, well, Huckabee is a minister. I don't like the idea of a Baptist minister as my president.
I mean, really. Wouldn't everyone on earth just howl if a Catholic Priest was running for President?
For me, it comes down to immigration. Despite the liberal pundits claims that illegal immigration is necessary, I see it as a threat to the livelihoods of many middle class Americans.
I would prefer Fred Thompson, but I guess he really got into later than he should have. I will be satisfied with Romney or even Giuliano (despite their problems, I think they can beat either Hillary or Obama)
McCain is an anti-free speech candidate. He is pro-immigration. He is a bit of a loose cannon when it comes to foreign policy, though at least he would probably deal with Iraq well.
Back to immigration, even legal immigration takes away American's jobs. Greedy corporations have declared that they MUST have the ability to hire foreigners because there are just not enough American technology-trained people. This is bullshit. I've seen it for myself at both Sprint and Cerner - they hire people from Third World countries who often have problems with the English language, and they hire more and more of these folks, many of them fine people, mind you, it is not their fault, and then the companies they hire fewer and fewer Americans. And it happens at many, many companies.
Grrr. I have things I have to do. I'll try to be more exact later on.

Against all odds . . .
I am hoping and praying that Iowa Republicans will choose Fred Thompson in the caucus tonight.
I know there is only a tiny chance, but he stands for true conservatism. I've even given his campaign money, and I'm kinda cheep cheap!
So, good luck to you, Fred! I hope they understand how good you would be as President.

September 15th in DC - the Left
Due to a tragic misunderstanding, a cabby took me to Lafayette Square last Saturday, instead of the Gathering of Eagles.
While I waited for the Armorer to rescue me from the center of the Answer/CodePinko/Socialist Workers Party celebration of free speech, I took some pictures of the participants.
First of all, there were many aged hippies. Some of them just looked sad - walking alone, long, grey hair, obviously missing their glory days of yore:

And this little lady, all 73 years of her - I think she was actually more of the Beatnik age in the '50s -

Because these pics will kill the bandwidth of any dial up readers, I'll have the rest of the pics in the extended entry.
This little guy is quite the fashionable dude, with his man purse!

This guy was selling his shirts - does that make him a Capitalist Socialist? Or is it the other way around?

I don't know about you, but seeing guys arm in arm whilst wearing masks seems weird. I mean, why the masks? They look like bank robbers. And if masks, why the arms linked together? I just don't get it.

And here is a couple with an old peace sign that they saved from 1968:

And here is a very pissed off lady -

I took a couple of hundred pictures, but there is only so much time in a day, don't ya know?

I think I'll have to root for Fred Thompson
Because Bill Lacy, of the Dole Institute at Kansas University just down the road is going to be his campaign manager.
I've met Bill at the Institute several times, and I have great respect for him. If he thinks Thompson is the guy to go for, I'll have to consider supporting Thompson.
In fact, I think I'll have to say:

My guess is that the Democrats are very relieved at this news
Cindy Sheehan quits the Democratic Party.
I can't imagine anyone other than the denizens of Democratic Underground and Daily KOS are unhappy about Cindy's leaving the Democrats.
Call me silly, but this statement of the SheHag almost looks like she would like to get rid of the two party system - I'm curious as to what this woman would replace it with!
The Camp Casey Peace Institute is calling all citizens who are as disgusted as we are with you all to join us in Philadelphia on July 4th to try and figure a way out of this "two" party system that is bought and paid for by the war machine which has a stranglehold on every aspect of our lives.

Nancy Boyda, our Congressional Representative
John and I are in the 2nd Congressional District of Kansas. For some years, Jim Ryun (yes, the runner) had held that seat. Ryun is a Republican and Boyda is a Democrat.
Seeing as I am somewhat on the conservative side of Attila the Hun, I was quite concerned when Ryun lost to Boyda last November. I was more concerned because Republican losses like that are what caused *spit* Nancy Pelosi *spit* to be the Speaker of the House.
Jim Ryun was not a great representative. I tend to email my elected officials, or send letters, and Ryun had a staff who apparently just stuck my address on to the same basic reply each time. Nine times out of ten, Ryun's reply had absolutely nothing to do with my question or comment. So he deserved to lose. I hope he does not get the Republican nomination, because he just doesn't do anything that makes me want to vote for him.
Okay, back to Nancy Boyda. Both John and I have emailed her on several occasions, and Ms. Boyda's staff apparently read what we wrote because her replies actually made sense and related to what I had written - even if I didn't necessarily agree with her opinions.
When I was in St. Louis for a class a few weeks ago, John went to the Dole Institute for a dinner followed by a program, and Ms. Boyda was in attendance, also. John talked to her afterwards, in the parking lot, for quite some time about different subjects.
Anyway, since we were going to DC for a long weekend, we decided to see if we could meet Mrs. Boyda at her office. One of her staffers emailed and confirmed the appointment - 3:00 pm on a Thursday for 30 minutes.
I could not have been more surprised. Nancy Boyda is a lovely, gracious woman with a good sense of humor and some definite political skills. Our 30 minutes with her turned into a couple of hours, and we had a great discussion.
One of my biggest concerns is the whole abortion on demand, no matter how late in the pregnancy for any reason demands that extreme leftists claim is a woman's right to choose.
Personally, I don't like abortion at all for any reason, but I realize that stopping late term abortions will save thousands of children who lose their lives even if they are viable. I asked Ms. Boyda what her thoughts were on abortion.
I was amazed - even though Emily's List had given her campaign money her first go-around a few years ago, Nancy is not for abortion on demand at any time. Nancy would like to eliminate all abortions after 90 days except to save the life of the mother (not the so-called 'mental health', but the life). She also told me that the parents of minor girls should be notified and that minor girls should not be taken across state lines for abortions. I really should not be all that surprised, there used to be a lot of Democrats in Kansas who were pro-life. Joan Finney, our first woman governor in Kansas, was pro-life and a Democrat. She was, unfortunately, not a very good governor, but that's neither here nor there.
Since the left has pretty much taken over control of the Democrats, any pro-life or even semi-pro-life voices in that party have been stamped out. It was nice to see that in this day of Michael Moore, George Soros and Moveon.org, there can be a reasonable Democrat who is not shrilly demanding that the entire country take a very sharp left turn.
Now, we have our differences. But, I believe that all of you should make a point of contacting your legislators. Let them know what you think - because believe me, all the lobbyists and people with crazy causes are contacting them on a daily basis. It a good thing to remind Congress that they are there to serve us, not the other way around.
By the way, Nancy is extremely supportive of Valour IT and Soldier's Angels, and she and John had a long discussion about that and other ways of assisting our veterans.

Good news
Turkish secularists are marching against the Islamic government. 300,000 of them! They don't want the current government to drag Turkey back into the dark ages.
My hope is that people from other countries with Islamic-leaning governments will be encouraged and start to stand up against the Mullahs and their crazy sword-wielding enforcers of Islamic law.
Mainstream Media - it's your turn - report on this as much as you have Valerie Plame, and perhaps you can help the Eastern world turn the corner away from Islamic law.

Maybe Kansas City will get a decent mayor
I have not lived in Kansas City, Missouri for many years - gosh, I moved out of Kansas City in 1990. Kansas City is a mess. The politics of the place has been screwy forever. Much money is wasted, much favoritism shown. The city has annexed huge chunks of non-incorporated areas over the years, and has never provided those areas with the same amenities people living closer to the center city get - you know, amenities like police and fire protection and ambulance service, clearing the snow and ice off roads, that kind of stuff.
Kansas City has a weird process for selecting a mayor. There are no 'political parties' allowed (hahahaha) in the elections for the city. All the people who want to run for mayor (and this time, there were 12 or 13 people running) are voted on at the same time (yesterday). The top two vote-getters then have a run off election in a month or so.
The results are in - Funkhauser and Brooks will be running against each other.
I hope and pray that Kansas Citians vote for Mark Funkhouser - he was city auditor for years and he knows where the money goes and whether or not it should go there.
Alvin Brooks is a fine man - but he is a very liberal Democrat. I can't imagine how much money he would want to spend!
I'll write more later.
I have to go to work!

Amanda, John Edwards and feminism
The whole Amanda of Pandagon thing is totally cracking me up. Obviously, John Edwards learned all about flip-flopping from his mentor and running mate, John (I was in Vietnam) Kerry.
First he hires her. Then he fires her, then he doesn't fire her.
Darlene says it's because Amanda found something new to make her feel fresh again.

This is what we pay Senators $165,200 per year for?
Let's see. Just what has the Senate accomplished so far this year? Nothing. They are not even debating anything that means anything.
Spending all this time on a non-binding resolution is ridiculous and a waste of taxpayers' time and money. They do it just to get into the spotlight. Just so they can express their own version of BDS. And too many Republican Senators are behaving as badly as the Democrat Senators. They are so wishy washy - Brownback, for instance, my own Senator (I cannot stand the man), is against the war, but won't vote for a non-binding resolution because it might send the wrong message to the enemy. Too late, Brownback, to late Senators, the message has already been sent.
No one likes war. But since we are there, and if we leave, Iraq will become a black hole, we have to do what we can to win it. Yes, win it. And we don't win wars by being a bunch of whiny, snotty Senators who just want their own anti-Bush soundbites to be on the evening news.
I was awakened very early this morning by the critters (4:00 am). I went about my morning chores and turned on the radio. It was some talk show or another, and they were discussing the 'non-binding resolution'. Virtually every caller appeared to be reading from a George Soros script denouncing President Bush.
In a way, I am happy that Senators are doing nothing - they can't raise my taxes when they are being publicity hounds. On the other hand, our Troops in Iraq are put in harm's way by politicians and pundits who exclaim that they are going to fail. If any of you think that Al Qaeda does not take great solace in knowing that the US is going to let them take over the Middle East, well, you are just damned ignorant.
Update: Go read this post - it's kinda related to this one, and I hope that the idiot Senators give General Petraeus a chance.

The ISG Commission
I've been working really hard this week, so I've not had much time to do any deep reading or pay much attention to the news. But I've heard enough about the arrogant study group's conclusion to know that what I've heard so far is totally idiotic.

I really hate the whole Commission idea
These stupid-ass commissions that Congress and the President use so often are just ridiculous. We did not elect commission members. We elect Congress and the President.
I do not want decisions like how to deal with Iraq made by commissions. Where in the US Constitution is there any mention of commissions and their 'power'.
Also, I don't want these old politicians, who are not elected, Baker and Hamilton and more, making decisions. This is bullshit.
What a waste, waste, waste of our taxes.
That is all.

Kansas City Politics is really out of focus
In the news, Kansas City, Missouri, is one of the most dangerous places to live in the country. There are gang wars going on, but the city doesn't worry about that - they worry about forcing all bars and restaurants to be completely non-smoking.
The City Health Department wants to force all restaurants and bars to be smoke free, and while doing so, force all restaurants in the entire metropolitan area to be smoke free.
I don't smoke, but this should be a decision that a business owner makes.
I would be much more impressed if the City Council would do something about the violent crime rate in Kansas City.

Claire decided that she needed a vacation after winning her Senate seat last week. So she leaves for a luxurious vacation (her husband is very, very wealthy) and blows off going to Washington D.C. this week.
And this week, the Dems are electing their leaders. And all the other freshmen Senators are being oriented.
Her first week on the job, and she takes vacation.

Howard Dean
Unelected Howard Dean says that we are going to leave Iraq. I just watched him on Fox with Chris Wallace. He says it's time we cut our losses.
So folks, President Bush was right - the Democrats are all about cut and run.
I am furious that the leftist part of the Democrat party think they rule the country now. They don't.

So let us be friends,
Let arguments past.
I'll hug my elephant,
You kiss your ass.

Attention all newly-elected Democrats
If you want to be elected for a second term, there are some things you are going to have to do.
1. Stop bashing Christians.
2. Accept the fact that the 2nd Ammendment means that citizens get to own firearms.
3. Keep our taxes low - do not pretend that 'rolling back' a tax cut is *not* a tax increase - it is.
4. Do not try to put price controls on things like gasoline. It's been tried before, and it was a miserable failure. Much like this Congress will be if it thinks that the country has turned liberal.
5. Limit abortions. Quit fighting for abortions until the last few minutes down the birth canal. Be reasonable. I think many people would accept legal abortions if you don't allow them after 4 or 5 months of pregnancy.
6. Do not try to control speech with 'hate speech' laws like they have in England and Canada.
7. Do not mess with our Constitution.
8. Do not spend the next two years having hearings about how much you all hate Republicans.
9. Be smart - we are in a Global War on Terrorism, and waiting for the US to be attacked is not the way to fight it.
10. Let our soldiers fight a war. Forget the PC bullshit.
11. Don't betray Israel.

vote
It is very important to vote. The Democrats have registered thousands of dead people in Kansas City and St. Louis, so for conservatives to have a chance, we all have to vote.
I'm cracking up at the 'news' that Democrats are accussing Republicans of voter fraud or voter suppression when the Democrats have been famous for such doings for years and years.
Remember folks, it was the Democrats in the South who prevented African Americans from voting - not Republicans!
So vote.

Think about your vote
Even if you are pissed off at the Republican Party because they can't seem to cut back spending programs and because here they are in power and it seems they are screwing it up - remember the alternative - Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House. And Pelosi has laid out her 100 days plan - just as if she was running for President (ick, patoooie). The Democrats will raise our taxes, spend way more than Repulicans, plunging the economy into recession, really screw up the War On Terror, cheer on the terrorists by pretending they are really just a bunch of guys who need to be treated nicely and they will be nice back.
Now, the Arab world is thrilled by the prospect of a Democratically controlled Congress. The terrorists are cheering on the Democrats. Why? Because it will prove to the terrorists that their actions in Iraq were the right ones, and it will prove to them that terrorism works.
So, love terrorism? Vote Democrat.
Love government spending? Vote Democrat.
Want to pay more taxes? Vote Democrat.

Humour and Politics
One of my daily listens, Darla Jaye at KMBZ.com, found an opinion column by the Kansas City Star's Lewis Diugiud, who is always offended by everything. And he is a flaming liberal, too.
Anyway, Lewis is unhappy that people laugh about politics - politics should be taken seriously, he claims:
But poking fun at our nations political process takes away from the seriousness of voting, such as in Tuesdays election. It hinders people from realizing that their voices at the ballot box matter in national, state and local governments.Instead we laugh as Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show, late-night comedians Jay Leno and David Letterman, and other entertainers skewer politicians.
Yes, Lewis does not want us to laugh. We are not serious enough about voting for "change". And yes, Lewis is a Democrat.
I wonder if Lewis has ever noticed that it's pretty obvious that David Letterman, Jay Leno and Jon Stewart tend towards the left in their jokes - that ought to make Lewis happy!
Anyway, Lewis managed to find one study to back up his thesis. "The Daily Show Effect".
The authors of the study summarized it:
We test the effects of a popular televised source of political humor for young Americans: The Daily Show With Jon Stewart. We find that participants exposed to jokes about George W. Bush and John Kerry on The Daily Show tended to rate both candidates more negatively, even when controlling for partisanship and other demographic variables. Moreover, we find that viewers exhibit more cynicism toward the electoral system and the news media at large.(emphasis mine)Despite these negative reactions, viewers of The Daily Show reported increased confidence in their ability to understand the complicated world of politics. Our findings are significant in the burgeoning field of research on the effects of "soft news" on the American public. Although research indicates that soft news contributes to democratic citizenship in America by reaching out to the inattentive public, our findings indicate that The Daily Show may have more detrimental effects, driving down support for political institutions and leaders among those already inclined toward nonparticipation.
Personally, I think that we should be cynical about the news media. We should be cynical about political leaders.
I am not a Daily Show fan because Jon Stewart tends to be very left-leaning, but if he is breeding cynicism into the youth of today, good.
We have learned that both the MSM and the politicians lie with regularity. Laughing at both is healthy.

Her side of the story
Here in Kansas, the race for Attorney General has been a pretty hot one. There is a lot of political intrigue and backstabbing going on. When things like this happen, it gets so people do not know who is telling the truth.
You see, in response to a comment from Paul Morrison that he has no scandal in his past, Phil Klein mentioned a sexual harrassment lawsuit that was filed against Paul Morrison by a former employee some years ago when he was the Johnson County prosecuter in Olathe, Kansas. Well, Paul Morrison has accussed Mr. Klein of being sleazy, etc., by bringing this up. Both parties agreed to end the lawsuit for reasons of their own.
The Kansas City Star has a fairly balanced article about the bruhaha here.
I wanted to publish the statement of the woman who still stands behind her assertion that Paul Morrison sexually harrassed her. (Morrison claims he just said she looked attractive). So I asked Kelly Summerlin's attorney, Scott G. Hattrup, and have permission to publish this in full:
Scott G. Hattrup Attorney at Law 11925 W. 92nd Terrace Lenexa, KS 66215 (913) 492-8812 phone/ (913) 492-8836 fax SHattrup@aol.com The following is a press release from my client, Kelly Summerlin. . Please direct all further questions through my office and do not contact my client directly.
STATEMENT OF KELLY SUMMERLIN Because of recent false and misleading statements made by Paul Morrison, I have prepared this statement.
I was fully aware, back in 1991, when I first filed cases against Paul Morrison, that they would become a matter of public record. And that anyone, at anytime, could access and review this information. My family and I put a great deal of thought into the seriousness of this matter. I sincerely considered the fact that Mr. Morrison was a powerful and prominent person with a great deal of influence.
Although I did not personally give permission to Mr. Phill Kline to release the court documents, that was not my call to make. It was all public record. I also accept that Paul Morrison could have done the same at any time.
Mr. Klines references to these lawsuits have been accurate, to my understanding. On the other hand, Mr. Morrison has provided misleading and false information. I believe it is important for me to attempt to set the record straight. The public will make its own determinations. I do this for myself, my family and for anyone who has ever been in my shoes and was afraid to speak out. It was not easy then and it is not easy now. Make no mistake, what I said was true fifteen years ago and is still true today.
In 1985, I was hired by Dennis Moore, the Johnson County District Attorney, to work as a Victim/Witness Assistant. After Mr. Morrison was elected as the District Attorney, he promoted me to Coordinator of the Victim/Witness Assistance Unit. In that position I participated as a part of the prosecution team in one our offices most significant cases involving a serial murderer. My role was to advocate and support the surviving family members. Mr. Morrison presented a select number of people with a personal award plaque recognizing their contribution in this important case; I was one of those.
On the evening of the verdict, November 4, 1990, Mr. Morrison personally invited me to a victory party at a local bar, along with other key participants. I attended, and during the course of the evening, Mr. Morrison did not simply compliment me by saying I was attractive, as he claims. His actions and words were much more aggressive.
Mr. Morrison approached me and told me he was uncomfortable. I asked him why and he responded by propositioning me. He then pressured me to respond by asking, What are we going to do about that? I was stunned. I rejected his advances and felt like all of my hard work, commitment, and dedication had been reduced to nothing.
The following day Mr. Morrison pulled me aside at work and blamed his comments and actions the night before on the alcohol. I simply acknowledged his statement. I wanted this to go away. It didnt. Over the course of the next few weeks and months, my job description was changed, my responsibilities were reduced, I was moved out of my office, my computer was taken away, and Mr. Morrison denied me the opportunity to work with victims. The working environment was increasingly hostile and unforgiving. After five years of service, on February 12, 1991, Paul Morrison gave me the option to resign quietly and receive my vacation and sick leave benefits or be terminated and lose all benefits. He gave me a week to consider my options. I decided to fight.
I learned that Mr. Morrison was very skillful at re-arranging facts to fit a version that would be most favorable to him. He is a skilled attorney. He continues to minimize his actions and behavior and put all blame on me. He has used his power and position to control and intimidate. The second most difficult and painful experience of my life was standing up to Mr. Morrison.
The first would have to be the effort by my husband and I to have a family. During this time in 1991, my husband and I were seeking to adopt our first child. Even though I was no longer employed in his office, I learned that Mr. Morrison had spoken with the birth- grandparents of the child we were seeking to adopt. I was stunned and felt violated again. There was NO reason for any conversation regarding our private adoption to have ever taken place by Mr. Morrison. He was the District Attorney and I was a private citizen.
I fought for more than two years. I followed the legal process by first filing an EEOC complaint. I was required to wait for the outcome of the EEOC case before filing a civil sexual harassment lawsuit. I also filed a separate due process case. During that time I was repeatedly attacked and belittled by Mr. Morrison and his attorneys.
The due process case was dismissed by the judge before the jury could deliberate. Review of court records show the judge stating that the case was "difficult and not clear cut. Mr. Morrison had asked the judge to declare the lawsuit as frivolous, unreasonable and brought in bad faith, in seeking to have me pay his attorney fees; the judge did not agree with Mr. Morrison.
My case for sexual harassment was never thrown out of court by a judge. Mr. Morrisons recent statement implying that the case had no merit is a misstatement of the truth. As an attorney, he is certain to comprehend the difference in the cases; however, his public comments are misleading and deceitful. Court documents reflect that the judge concluded that in pursuing the sexual harassment charges that, a reasonable person could find in favor of either party. Only a jury could make the final decision. Not Mr. Morrison.
As the sexual harassment trial was approaching, more than two years after the initial incident, Mr. Morrisons tactics had taken their toll. I needed to move forward and pursue a career that utilized my strengths and talents and had decided to apply to nursing school. This was a very competitive process and required all of our emotional and financial resources. We were not willing to risk the possibility of Mr. Morrison again becoming involved in our personal life goals. After much consideration for what was best for our family, my husband and I decided to settle the case. There were no strings attached and no money exchanged hands.
Mr. Morrison is now publicly claiming that there was some sort of side agreement; we would dismiss the sexual harassment case if he agreed not to go after them (us). Once again, the facts will bear that there was no such agreement. There was no deal. Mr. Morrison has been free to file any counterclaim alleging defamation of character or slander. He chose not to.
I have never recanted my statements. What I said was true fifteen years ago and remains the truth today. I appreciate the opportunity to publicly respond to the recent events.Kelly Summerlin
So, it seems to me that Paul Morrison is not exactly being truthful about this. I have to wonder if he will uphold sexual harrassment laws as the Attorney General of Kansas, and if he would be likely to fire women who do not care for any unwelcome advances.
I was a victim of sexual harrassment back in the '80s. I worked at the OakPark Mall Krigel's jewelry store, and the manager of that store man-handled all of us.
He would swat me on the behind in front of customers or in the backroom and think it was funny. I asked him to stop, and he didn't. So I went to the owners of the chain, Mr. and Mrs. Krigel. They pretty much said that since the manager was such a great salemen, they were not going to do anything to upset him.
So I got moved to the lowest volume store in the chain - at Metro North Mall, and got a huge cut in my commissions.
UPDATE: I forgot to thank Jim C. for sending me this info - Thanks, Jim!

Politics
Damn, I cannot wait for election day. I will vote next week sometime, because Kansas is one of those wonderful states that allow you to go to the courthouse and vote early.
But the commercials - ugh. I hate them. Every time I turn on the radio or television, I'm assaulted by the commercials. And to make it worse, the bulk of the commercials are in reference to a tight race in Missouri - I don't even live there and I have to listen to all the bullshit flung from both sides.
So I have had to watch the Michael J. Fox commercial many times. And whether you want it or not, here is my opinion on that commercial.
1. Michael J. Fox has overdosed on his medication in order to exaggerate his movements - he admits this.
2. The commercial gives the impression that a cure for Parkinson's is only awaiting Claire McCaskill's election to the Senate - and nothing could be further from the truth. It is going to take a lot of years and a lot of good research to develop a cure for Parkinson's. Besides anyone who votes for Claire McCaskill for only one issue is certainly not thinking things through.
3. I feel bad that Michael J. Fox's illness is being used to shill for politicians. And Claire McCaskill has exactly nothing to do with the question of stem cell research in the State of Missouri.
4. The ad is misleading:
Princeton professor Robert P. George, who sits on the presidents bioethics commission, tells National Review Online:(from Kathryn Jean Lopez's NRO column.)the ads exaggerate the therapeutic potential of embryonic stem cells beyond anything that Michael J. Fox or anyone else has reasonable grounds to believe they can be used to accomplish. Adult stem cells stem cells that can be obtained harmlessly from umbilical cord blood, bone marrow, fat, and other sources have actually been used successfully to treat people. They have been used to improve peoples lives. Embryonic stem cells have not helped anyone. No one knows when, if ever, embryonic cells will be used in therapies at all. Indeed, not a single embryonic-stem-cell-based therapy is even in stage one of clinical trials. That is because the tendency of embryonic stem cells to produce tumors makes it unethical to use them in human beings even in experimental treatments. By contrast, there are more than 1,000 adult-stem-cell-based therapies in clinical trials. In his ads, Michael J. Fox hides these crucial facts, thus creating an appallingly false impression and slandering candidates against whom the ads are directed.

I'm fed up with so many bloggers
Glenn Reynolds and many others are convinced that the Republicans will lose the House and/or the Senate this November.
Michelle Malking said she wasn't going to vote.
Allah Pundit says he is going to vote for Democrats because he is pissed at Republicans.
They are all idiotic. I have lost all respect for all conservatives who think that not voting or voting for Democrats is a good idea.
I'm sure the Democratic Underground is laughing hilariously.
If the Democrats win the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, a shrill, nasty shrew, will be on the radio and TV every single day. Screaming at those of us who are conservatives that she is going to raise our taxes, probably impeach President Bush, and guarantee that children can be aborted until age 2 if they are not perfect or if they are not minorities. She'll do all she can to ban gun ownership.
God knows what the Democrats would do when it comes to our security. Probably insist that all we have to do to get along with the Islamofascists is to don veils and pay them a dhimmi tax.
Everyone of you need to vote. It is of incredible importance!!
All of us need to vote. Vote for the Republican candidates - yeah, some of them suck, but they don't suck as much as their Democratic counterparts - and then, get involved with the party. Change it from within. If you don't like the candidates, get involved with the behind the scenes annointing of candidates.
Just vote.
Prove Glenn Reynolds, Michelle Malkin and Allah Pundit wrong.

For once, I completely agree with Ann Coulter
Wow, Ann Coulter has a great article - here.
Naturally, about the hypocrisy of the Democrats throwing fits about Foley when they jump to protect Democrats who do bad things - mind you, she does not excuse Foley, neither do I - but, methinks the Democrats doth protest too much.
Here is just a little excerpt:
In 1983, Democratic congressman Gerry Studds was found to have sexually propositioned House pages and actually buggered a 17-year-old male page whom he took on a trip to Portugal. The 46-year-old Studds indignantly attacked those who criticized him for what he called a "mutually voluntary, private relationship between adults." ..... . . . . . . ..Washington Post columnist Colman McCarthy referred to Studds' affair with a teenage page as "a brief consenting homosexual relationship" and denounced Studds' detractors for engaging in a "witch-hunt" against gays: "New England witch trials belong to the past, or so it is thought. This summer on Cape Cod, the reputation of Rep. Gerry Studds was burned at the stake by a large number of his constituents determined to torch the congressman for his private life."
Apparently, in DC, the age of consent is 16, by the way.
If you ask me, anyone younger than 21 should be off limits for all adults.
Again, I'm no fan of Dennis Hastert. But demanding he resign from Congress is a bit much.
And John had a lot to say about this on the day the news came out - so it would be a good idea to go read his post, too.

I really hate this crap
So, this horrid excuse for a man, Congressman Foley, has quit the Congress - and rightly so. But now, the leftists are running around claiming that it is the Republican leadership's fault!?! That Denny Hastert (and I am absolutely no fan of him) should have 'investigated' Foley long ago and found him out - ummmm - are the Democrats saying that Foley should have been wiretapped - his instant messages discovered by investigators?
Hmmmmmm.
That just sounds so much like the very thing that the Democrats claim they don't want done to terrorist suspects.
Do you get my drift? Does the word hypocrisy come to mind?
I have to go get a cup of coffee - talk among yourselves. I'll be back later.

This has to embarrass *Someone*
I have worked in Rhode Island a couple of times, and my clients were smart, stable, and dedicated people. It's a lovely little state, and boy, do I mean little! I kept driving out of Rhode Island trying to find the way to a particular restaurant the last time I was there - and I only drove about 20 miles.
Anyway, I would be mortified to have Patrick Kennedy as my Representative to Congress. I don't care if there was alchohol involved or not, he was clearly Under the Influence - of something, and that is illegal. Unfortunately, the Capital Police are also Under the Influence - of someone higher up, who does not allow them to do their jobs.
Feisty has an interesting suggestion on how this might play with the public, especially frat boys - here.

2. The MSM is not being honest about their reporting - this company is not currently in charge of port security nor will it be in charge of port security.
3. John of Argghhh! has the facts here and here.
Update - on further thought, I can't believe how dumb the President is being on this politically.

Much Ado About Alito
So, a bunch of conservatives are upset that Justice Alito voted to allow the 8th Circuit Court to review the death penalty in Missouri.
And a bunch of liberals are all excited about it.
But - I think he is doing exactly what a conservative and thoughtful judge should do.
I am a pro-life conservative. Hopefully, so is Justice Alito. Even though the crime committed by Michael Taylor was indeed evil and heinous, (I lived in Kansas City when Ann Harrison was kidnapped, raped and murdered, and it was just horrible) even though he confessed to the crime, and even though I would feel a certain satisfaction if this guys dies for his crime, I still think the death penalty is terribly flawed, and as a pro-life Catholic, I cannot defend the death penalty.
Now, it's okay with me if the murderer is put in a cage for life with some rocks and a pick ax and has to break them all up for the rest of his life. But I have a problem with the death penalty. When I look at other countries who have the death penalty, I see Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq and the Muslim world as a whole. I want us to be better than those countries.
Don't get me wrong - I want murderers to be locked away forever, I wouldn't mind if they were put in stocks so the citezenry can throw rotten tomatoes at them. I want them to suffer until they die a natural death. I want their lives to be as miserable as the lives of their victims' families.
So, I think that this vote does not prove Alito as a liberal - but as someone who values life.
Even the life of an evil criminal.
And hopefully, even the life of an unborn child.
UPDATE:
I don't expect my regular readers to agree with me. I just feel that in matters of life and death I must be consistent. As long as we can keep these horrid people behind bars and away from the rest of society, I think that is a better choice than execution.

Imagine ...
The screams from the EU, the UN and the Left if the United States of America put into law what The Netherlands has just approved:
Dutch Introduce Exams for Immigrants, Consider Army Drill for YouthsFrom the desk of Paul Belien on Sat, 2006-01-21 20:46
This week the Dutch Parliament voted a bill which obliges immigrants to pass a compulsory exam. The Dutch Parliament is also in favour of a proposal to have troublesome youths disciplined and drilled by the army. From 1 March onwards people who want to settle in the Netherlands (e.g. to join family members or to marry someone living there) will have to pass a preliminary test at the Dutch embassy in their country of origin. In this so-called integration test the immigrants have to prove that they have sufficient knowledge of the Dutch language and the geography, history and political system of the Netherlands. The fee for taking the test is 350 euros. Those who do not pass are not allowed to enter the Netherlands. Those who do pass have only taken the first hurdle. After their arrival in the Netherlands they will have to pass a second more difficult exam.
The exams are part of a bill proposed by Rita Verdonk, the Minister for lntegration. The Dutch House of Representatives approved the bill on Thursday. The Dutch Senate had done so last month. The Netherlands is the first country to subject immigrants to exams. Last year the Danish government, too, announced plans to significantly curb the flow of immigrants from third-world countries.Dutch Prime Minister Jan-Peter Balkenendes government of Christian-Democrats and free-market Liberals is also considering other measures. One of these might be to establish military camps to discipline troublesome youths. There are 40,000 jobless youths in the Netherlands, who have left school without degrees. The majority of them is of foreign origin. Many become involved in criminal activities. A majority of Dutch parliamentarians, including members of the Socialist opposition, supports a plan to discipline them in military style.
Italics are mine.
Discuss among yourselves. . .

Justice Department
The Justice Department wants to force Google to release records of everyone's searches. Why? To find and prosecute anyone who may be viewing child pornography.
Okay, child porn is evil and bad and rightly illegal. However, what is some child porn purveyer uses tags that do not indicate that the site is porn and Google lists that site when someone is searching for dolls or toys? What if someone clicks on a link that appears to be ok but it ends up being a porn site? I think that has happened to must of us. If that porn site has an underage 17 year old or something on it, does that mean that it's illegal to inadvertently click on a search result that does not appear to be porn? I don't know about this.
I have problems with this kind of broad demand - apparently they want "ALL" search records.
Wouldn't that kind of be illegal search and seizure? Or am I all concerned about nothing? Or, if I want to search for guns, will some justice guy get all hot and bothered and investigate me?
I'd rather they go and investigate foreign nationals who hail from countries that are not friendly to us.
I want us to get rid of terrorists as soon as possible.
I'm glad that Google is saying no.

Pompous, Pandering Politicians
Damn. I've been trying really hard to stay away from political discussions, but Martin Luther King Day was apparently a day of pandering instead of reflection.
Let's start with Hillary.
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, speaking yesterday at a ceremony honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., compared the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to a plantation where dissent is not tolerated.Source
Her comments, made before a predominantly black audience at the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem, drew a harsh response from national Republicans, but black leaders came to her defense. At the ceremony, Mrs. Clinton, the junior Democratic senator from New York, said that Democrats were largely responsible for much of the nation's progress in areas like civil rights and women's rights.
Apparently Ms. Rodham-Clinton has forgotten that there were many, many Southern Democrats who did everything in their power to prevent the Civil Rights Act from passing. Next thing you know, she is going to say that Abraham Lincoln was a Democrat.
Not only that, but she goes on to bitch about the fact that Democrats can't get their way when they are in the minority. Well, la de dah, Ms. Hillary. How do you suppose Republicans feel when the Democrats are in power.
And then, the Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, is blaming God for Katrina - that is is punishment for our going to war with Iraq. What a loon! That's as nutty as Pat Roberson.
And then, to make things worse, he says that New Orleans has to be a Chocolate City again. Huh? What the heck does that mean? Why should color come into it at all?
And, can you imagine the uproar if a non-chocolate person said "... God is upset at black America also."
"We are not taking care of ourselves. We are not taking care of our women, and we are not taking care of our children when you have a community where 70 percent of its children are being born to one parent."
And lastly, of course, there is the media whore, Gore.
Ugh. He has apparently forgotten that the Clinton Administration did lots of wiretapping.
Well, I have got to get ready for work!

Bill Gates better change this practice
Apparently, at the request of the Chinese Government, Microsoft MSN has removed a blog written by a Chinese dissident. The blog was hosted in the USA.
There are some reports that MSN Spaces is taking down *any* Chinese language blog with words like "Falun Gong" and "Tienanmen " in them - blogs that are hosted anywhere in the world, not just China.
So, in effect, any Chinese language blog written by a US Citizen that is at all anti-Chinese Government will likely disappear.
I do wonder about Taiwanese blogs - is MSN disappearing them, also?

What the Move On crowd won't tell you
The economy is booming so much that many States are running huge surpluses in tax revenues and many are considering tax cuts!
Three years of strong revenue growth have left many states with large surpluses. New Mexico is looking at a $1 billion surplus. Florida expects more than $3 billion.Even financially troubled California took in $3.4 billion more than it spent in the budget year that ended June 30 the state's first surplus since 2000. California's deficit was erased by a 13.2% revenue increase.
And that quote is from USA Today - not exactly a paper prone to pointing out good things.
So, President Bush - brag about this! Tell one and all that your tax cuts have stimulated growth (and tax growth) so much that even California is running a surplus!

Former president Clinton is behaving badly. So are Senators Kerry, Pelosi and many other Democrats.

My Opinion
Democrats are sounding like whiney children. Harry Reid stomps his foot and takes the Senate into a closed hearing. And apparently, there was nothing - nothing discussed that had anything to do with National Security.
I guess the Democrats are saddened that President Bush has not resigned because one person in his administration has been indicted - not convicted, but indicted.
Ummm, hate to suggest this - but President Clinton didn't resign (nor did anyone suggest he must) back when his administration was being riddled with indictments.
Oh, and apparently the Dems have forgotten who was President in 1998 - the whole WMD thing did *not* start with President Bush. Glenn Reynolds has a great article here - go read it.
Oh, oh, oh - don't forget about Prince Charles telling Americans how we should do things.
Prince Charles to Explain Islam to American PublicSource
Prince Charles of Wales will explain the virtues of Islam to the US President, George W. Bush, and the American people this week.According to British daily Sunday Telegraph, Prince Charles thinks the United States has been too "intolerant" of Islam since 11 September 2001.
During his eight-day visit, Prince Charles will try to convince Bush about the merits of Islam and attend some conferences on religions at various platforms.
The Prince of Wales had expressed his concerns earlier regarding Washington's "confrontational" approach to Muslim countries and its failure to understand the strength of Islam.
He came together with senior Muslims in London following the September 11 attacks and said, "I find the language and rhetoric coming from America too confrontational."
Goodness, we wouldn't want to confront this or this or this or this now, would we?
And a future English king (whose birth earns him riches and title - not a thing that he has done for the world) can hardly be a spokesman for religious tolerance. After all, English law allows the monarchy to belong to any religion, but Catholicism:
that all and every person and persons that then were, or afterwards should be reconciled to, or shall hold communion with the see or Church of Rome, or should profess the popish religion, or marry a papist, should be excluded, and are by that Act made for ever incapable to inherit, possess, or enjoy the Crown and government of this realm, and Ireland, and the dominions thereunto belonging, or any part of the same, or to have, use, or exercise any regal power, authority, or jurisdiction within the same: and in all and every such case and cases the people of these realms shall be and are thereby absolved of their allegiance: and that the said Crown and government shall from time to time descend to and be enjoyed by such person or persons, being Protestants, as should have inherited and enjoyed the same, in case the said person or persons, so reconciled, holding communion, professing or marrying, as aforesaid, were naturally deadSource

Plame Blame Flame?
How much money is this stupid Valerie Plame thing costing taxpayers? Let's see, so far, we find that a reporter went to jail to protect someone who said nothing. Judith Miller needs to check into a nice quiet hospital somewhere where she can try to get a grasp on reality.
Of course, it would be a really big hospital, because every single Democrat who thinks this Plame thing is an issue anywhere outside the Beltway should go check themselves into the same hospital.
Unless the prosecuter has some new evidence that actually points to someone *breaking* the law, I don't see any reason for this farce to go on.
Even the New York Times is embarrased about the whole thing.
There are more important things going on that need to be taken care of. I want to see the Congress and the President come up with a realistic plan for lowering energy costs. The sharp rise in oil prices is causing inflation and before we know it, we could be in the same fricking mess we were under Jimmy "the sweater" Carter - energy costs caused inflation to go up so much that the Feds kept increasing the interest rates to the point where no one could afford to purchase a home (16% interest rates on mortgages), etc. For those of you who were not of an age to remember those years - they sucked. The economy sucked big green ones.

Rerun time
I posted this over a year ago, but it still goes. So, I thought it worth another go round.
1. Adults are responsible for their own actions. Blaming their own behavior on drugs, alcohol, coming from a poor family or because they are gay or black or female or brown or white is neither rational nor useful. Every day we all have choices to make - good ones and bad ones, and if you make bad choices, then don't blame me and expect me to pick up your pieces if things don't go well for you. (naturally, folks who are mentally ill are exempt from this rule)
2. Life is precious. Whether you believe in God or don't, life is the most precious thing we have. That includes the life of a baby growing in a mother's womb. I get annoyed at all the liberals who think that American deaths in Iraq (and every one of those deaths is distressing, but probably necessary in a war) are the worst thing that can happen on earth, when millions of Americans have been denied being born because abortions are too easy to come by for any reason whatsoever (let's leave rape out of this discussion, please). The Death Penalty should be abolished, and replaced with life in prison - no parole whatsoever.
3. Education is the road out of poverty. Many public schools in cities and suburbs fail to teach children the basics - math, reading, grammar. They graduate these kids, and when the kids can't keep jobs, they make bad choices (see #1). Alternative education choices, including private schools, give kids a much better chance to become productive adults because they spend more time on the basics.
4. Not all values/cultures/morals are equal. I am sorry folks, but cultures like fundamentalist Islam, where women are property and slavery is okeydokey do not have as high a value as Western culture. They are not equivalent to us in morals. Fundamentalist Islamic Arabs want to rule the world and force us all to be their slaves or convert to their rather perverted view of Islam. I would even go so far as to say that American culture is better than Western European culture.
Why? We have a much freer society than any country in Western Europe, and way less socialism. And we are not nearly as snooty as the French.
5. We all have the right to protect ourselves and our homes from harm. I am a gun owner. I am proud of that fact.
6. I don't care if someone is gay or lesbian or straight. What is done in the privacy of one's bedroom is not my concern.
7. The money I earn is my money. I work very hard for it. Taxes are necessary, but politicians need to stop thinking of my money as the government's money. We need to keep taxes as low as possible - this encourages growth. (Economics 101)
8. We all have the freedom to worship as we choose - so long as that religion does not harm other people (Islamic fundamentalism comes to mind, as does Satanism). The courts are flat out wrong when they say that Christians cannot express themselves but Muslims and Jews can when it comes to religious symbols.
9. Owning property is a fundamental right. Home ownership is a wonderful thing. Habitat for Humanity is a wonderful organization that helps people own their home. I would rather see home ownership subsidized by the federal government than Section 8 housing and inner city projects.
10. Women and men should be paid the same for the work they do. I am in a predominantly male environment at work - believe it or not, I am a technical consultant. It is still an old boy's network, and I fight that every day.
11. A free market that is competitive (which means either eliminating or regulating monopolies) is a really good thing.
12. A free market that allows for free trade with other countries is also a good thing - as long as we don't allow other countries to dump artificially low-priced goods on us in an attempt to kill our own production. See #11.
13. The so-called War on Drugs needs a peace treaty. It is no more that a repeat of the alcohol prohibition of the 20's. The government should tightly regulate and license drugs like marijuana and possibly cocaine. Other drugs, I'm not too sure what to do about - some are just downright lethal. The gang problems our cities have will not exist without the profits they make from the drug trade. We have way too many kids in prison for doing stupid assed drug tricks - they should be out and learning how to make a legal living.
14. Every single one of the Bill of Rights is what makes our country so wonderful. That includes the right to gun ownership and the rights to worship as we please. I am worried that too many judges are abridging our freedom from unreasonable search and seizure - and the folks pushing for these searches without warrants are from both sides of the political spectrum - stop it, I say!
15. The elderly - as children, we need to take more responsibility of our parents' needs when possible - not the government. Too many times I hear very wealthy people complaining that their mom or dad can't afford rent or to eat because their medications are too expensive - for God's sake, help your parents! They raised you - the federal government should not be taking the place of families. If someone has no family, that's different - of course we should help them - but the next rich BMW-driving SOB who complains that his mom or dad is suffering because there is not enough Medicare - well, I would say something really rude here!
16. Be nice to people - even if you do not agree with their politics, it is important to try to remain polite. Otherwise, you end up with a bunch of people screaming at the world - KOS comes to mind.

Well, I've ended my foray into the underworld
Let's see - since Sunday, I posted 3 'diaries' on the Daily KOS, had one deleted with absolutely no communication to me as to why by some nutcase named Armando and had over 100 comments on the remaining posts that simply attacked me because I'm not them.
Some of the posts they made were a little frightening (good thing I'm a good shot) so I deleted the remaining two diaries.
Won't go back there for awhile. Those folks do not want to discuss anything, and if you try to discuss something, they attack you, and completely ignore everything you write.
For example, there are over 300 comments on a post that talks about the crosses being run over in Crawford County. I agree, that was an awful thing to do.
However, they are blaming everyone who voted for Bush for the vandalous acts of this one man. They have put his home phone number, address and business number on the comments, and though I think the guy is a jerk or a drunk, I don't think that his actions require thousands of kovovites calling him and his family and threatening them - which is what the commentors were proposing.
There is more. I copied all the comments and saved them. But those people are not quite sane. They are paranoid, delusional and probably a bit manic, too.
Thank God no one in my family is anywhere at moonbatty as those folks are. They must get off on calling people names, because they do it again and again and again. They are absolutely vile.
And they will never get what they want as long as they are that awful to others.

Rude Behavior
Someone decided to take things into his own hands and run over all the crosses that Cindy Sheehan and her pals set up in honor of the brave men and women who have died in Iraq.
The culprit has been caught and has to post a $3,000 bond.
The guy is a jerk.
The left is howling.
One of the diarists at the Daily Kos has this headline:"ANTI-AMERICAN ASSHAT MOWS DOWN CROSSES AT CAMP CASEY"
I agree that the guy is an asshat (a term coined by the lovely and right of center Rachel Lucas). Vandalizing someone's temporary memorial is a very bad thing to do.
However, when things like this happen and an asshat mows down crosses memoralizing the deaths of children through abortion, I just don't hear any comment from the left - do you?
Can you imagine what they would do if anyone called the idiot who mowed down the crosses in a churchyard un-American?
Ponder this.
Well, obviously, I'm not the only one who thought of this - great minds think alike, Michelle Malkin!

My Prediction
Since Cindy Sheehan has declared that there should be no Israel, I predict that the MSM will stop reporting her activities. It may take a day or two, but her story has jumped the shark, is toast, is all over.
Posted by Beth at 9:18 AM | Comments (3)
She's gone too far
I was going to keep my comments about Cindy Sheehan to a minimum because she lost her son in the war and I could excuse her idiocy because of that. But no more. She has just shown her true colors - she is anti-Semetic in the worst way:
BUSH PROTESTING MOM CALLS FOR 'ISRAEL OUT OF PALESTINE'; VOWS NOT TO PAY TAXES.Anti-war protestor Cindy Sheehan, whose soldier son Casey was killed in Iraq, is calling for Bush's "impeachment," and for Israel to get out of Palestine!
"You get America out of Iraq and Israel out of Palestine and you'll stop the terrorism," Sheehan declares.
Sheehan says defiantly: "My son was killed in 2004. I am not paying my taxes for 2004. You killed my son, George Bush, and I don't owe you a penny...you give my son back and I'll pay my taxes. Come after me (for back taxes) and we'll put this war on trial."
"And now I'm going to use another 'I' word - impeachment - because we cannot have these people pardoned. They need to be tried on war crimes and go to jail."
The 48-year-old California mom remains tented up in a ditch along the one-lane road that leads to President Bush's Texas ranch.
As her protest entered its second week, hundreds of people with conflicting opinions about the war in Iraq descended on the area.
Source
So now, this self-proclaimed martyr wants the State of Israel to be no more. I bet all terrorrists everywhere are cheering this lunatic on.
I will no longer be silent about someone who is using her son's death as an excuse to demand that the world does what she wants.
And it is the Media's fault for paying her so much attention.

Such a tactful guy, How weird Dean
""New England Republicans are different than most. They are more reasonable and thoughtful," Dean said. "You don't get as many right-wing wackos."Source
You know, I don't hate Democrats. But, Dean is doing his best to make me wish they would all jump off a cliff like sheep in Turkey.
If I were to say something like, "Kansas Democrats are different than most. They are more reasonable and thoughtful. You don't get as many left-wing moonbats." I would bet that moonbats from the DU would be calling me a fascist pig or something.
I am beginning to think that Dr. Dean got into politics because his bedside manner was so darned awful that he lost all his patients!

Is it time to discuss adoption again?
Since the children of Judge and Mrs. Roberts are being discussed around the blogosphere because they are adopted, it seems like a good time to discuss common misconceptions, misunderstandings and mistakes about adoption that I have run into as an adopted person.
I have actually had people say the following things to me from the time I was a little girl:
1. Don't you wish you were a "real' child.
2. Adopted children are "unwanted" children. What was wrong with you?
3. Not enough people want to adopt children, so that makes abortion moral and okay.
4. Haven't you looked for your "real" parents.
5. You must be abnormal if you don't want to find their "real" parents.
6. Are you like The Bad Seed?
7. Being adopted must make you feel like you are worthless.
8. Why don't pro-life people adopt children?
9. Adopted children are not "really" part of the family.
10. Adopted children cannot inherit anything from their adoptive parents..
Most of my readers will agree that these are stupid-ass statements. However, I know that I'm not the only one with a relative who insisted that adopted children are not part of a family, and therefore, cannot inherit everything.
My Aunt Jean Carr was such a person. Awful woman. My mom's only sister, and therefore, my godmother. Aunt Jean sold World Book Encyclopedias when I was in grade school. Rather than buy me a Christmas gift each year, she would give me one of the free World Book Year Books that she got for selling so many books. Fortunately, I love to read, and I'd read them from start to finish.
I was the first granddaughter on my mom's side. My Grandmother gave me her sterling silver tea service when I got married because I was the first to marry and the oldest granddaughter. Because my husband and I lived in a small apartment, Grandmother let me store it at her huge old house in St. Louis.
Grandmother died.
Aunt Jean stole the Tea Service and let my mom know that it belonged to her daughter, as she was a 'real' grandchild.
Fortunately, her husband, Uncle Dick, disagreed and took it from Aunt Jean and returned it to me.
I didn't realize the full extent of my Aunt's hatred of me and my sister until Mom died. Aunt Jean stole several items that we were to inherit from my mom that she had inherited from our grandmother. She never returned them.
Some years later, when Daddy died, Aunt Jean threatened to protest the Daddy's will - which left everything to my sister and I (we were his only children, after all). I was livid and I have not spoken to her or any of her children since then.
People like my 'evil Aunt Jean' (as we call her) are responsible for many misconceptions about adoption.
Adopted children have the same inheritance rights as any other child. Adopted children have birth mothers who cared enough about life to let their child have one. Adoptive parents have to go thru hell and back to adopt a child - the checks they have to go through are very difficult - unless, of course, you are a movie star and have a ton of money.
Well, I'll let the rest of you discuss this subject, I have got to get out of bed (John brought me brunch in bed and we have wireless and I'm spoiled) and get dressed (yes, I am bloggin' nekkid!) and do stuff.
Update: I almost forgot this one - my mom's family, the LeMaster family, goes back to the American Revolution. My Aunt Jean let me know every time she had a chance that I was not eligible to be a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) because I am not a 'blood' relative.
Heck, I wouldn't want to be in the darn dar anyway!
This is what their website states about membership and adoption:
Q. I'm adopted can I still become a member?
A. Yes, but only through your birth parents' lineage, not that of your adopted family. All lineage for DAR membership must be bloodline descent.
I suppose all DAR members are the equivalent of an AKC registered dog, eh?

I'm not a Lawyer
I am an adopted child - although more than grown up at 52 - and I am really fed up with the constant reference to the Roberts' adopted children.
If the MSM and politicians could only be sensitive to adopted children and simply refer to them as the children of Judge and Mrs. Roberts.
Believe me. Adopted children don't want to be pointed out by strangers as 'adopted'. And the parents who adopt those children love them every bit as much as any biological chld.
Judge and Mrs. Robert's children are beautiful, active little kids. They looked great in pastels for a fancy occassion when President Bush announced the nomination. Mrs. Roberts looked great, too.
In a family, it matters not if one is adopted or not - a daughter is a daughter and a son is a son.
Update: Michelle Malkin has a post with a lot emails from concerned adoptive parents - or as I prefer to say - parents - real parents - real moms and dads who are raising their real children. It's worth the read.

Ward Churchill should be in jail
This "Professor" should be tried for sedition. Pirate Ballerina has the scoop.
Apparently this poor excuse for a man is preaching that soldiers who kill their officers should be supported and encouraged.
UPDATE: Everyone else in the Blogosphere is on this bandwagon now, but they are not linking to the original audio - Pirate Ballerina should be credited for this entire discovery.
This excerpt pretty much says it all, don't you think?
Questioner: I think it's important when you're getting into a discussion of violence and appropriate violence and self-defense, of starting to look at what you're trying to build there, what you're trying to createfor example, fragging an officer, which you were talking about before, at the beginning of your talk, the sort of trauma that that inflicts on that officer's family back home is I feel like an important thing to take into account when you try to think about what your action is trying to accomplish in the first place. I really feel like I can articulate [my question] properly, but that's the general direction I'm heading with it.Churchill: How do you feel about Adolf Eichmann's family?
I hope the FBI or someone arrests him at some point - advocating violence against officers during a time of war is not free speech.

Unacceptable behaviour
Glenn Reynolds points us to this article in the Augusta Free Press:
Potty-mouth politics
I'll wait while you go and read Bruce Kessler's piece.
Done?
I agree with everything in the article.
I would go farther. When 'leaders' such as Howard Dean, Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin and people with too much influence like Michael Moore, compare the Bush Administration to the Third Reich and get away with it, that same name-calling habit trickles down to the naive, thoughtless, liberal followers. Pretty soon, they are calling all Republicans Nazis, and unless they are called out on the use of that term, they walk away feeling smug and superior.
I ran into this personally last week. I was talking to my lovely sister-in-law on the phone, attempting to steer clear of politics, as she is quite the liberal, and John and I are, well, quite the opposite.
Her husband is the head of the teacher's union in their town, and she was very upset that the teachers got a very small raise in starting pay - $300. I agreed that seemed miserly (but after doing some research, she didn't tell me the whole story - the average pay increase was closer to 4% according to their local newspaper- not too shabby).
She then called the Governor of her state "a Nazi".
I said, "A Nazi? What makes Governor XXXXX a Nazi?"
My sister-in-law (with a master's degree) said, "Well, he just is".
So I brought her up on this - I asked her what exactly the state government was doing that made her think it was Nazi-like. She, of course, could not answer. But she did go on and on:"Well, it will be like a Nazi state pretty soon, he's signing laws!".
Well, that of course makes all the sense in the world, eh?
I finally told her that calling someone a Nazi because she doesn't like the pay raise her husband got is pretty irresponsible. I told her that I knew a lot of Jews who might disagree with her comparison of the governor to a Nazi.
Finally, after a heated argument, she backed down.
She said, "Well, my choice of words might not have been the best."
Sound familiar?

Medium Rant
1. Flag Amendment. I'm agin it. Free speech is too precious - don't fuck with it. See John's post on the same.
2. The Kelo Decision. Oh, this one makes me want to scream. I can understand using eminent domain for truly public uses - airports, schools - but never, ever for property to be handed over to a private entity just because there might be more tax money generated. I have always disliked developers, now the Supreme Court has given them a tool to wreck the landscape and make blue collar folks give up their property just so they can get richer.
3. Tom Cruise and his 'religion' bwaa haa haa haa!
Scientology is not a Church, is not a Religion and should not be allowed to be tax-exempt. L. Ron Hubbard was a science fiction writer. Fiction was his milieu. Scientology would be better named 'Fictionality'. And they all ought to be charged with practicing medicine without a license. Feh.

Who Said This?
...I don't see rock and roll and politics being in the same bed together. I just don't see it. When my parents started talking about politics, I'd run in the other room and put the Rolling Stones on at full blast. I didn't want to hear about tax forms, I didn't want to hear about who's doing who to what. I just didn't want to care about it. And to this day, rock and roll should be the escape from politics, not the answer to politics.
One of my favorite rockers - Alice Cooper- in an interview with some lefty Aussie Bloke.
