Rotary Club International
You might not know this, but my handsome husband is very involved in several civic and charitable organizations. One of these is the Leavenworth Chapter of Rotary International.
Tonight, the Rotary Club had its Christmas Party. Every year we all bring wrapped gifts, and there is an auction to bid on these gifts - that are wrapped up, and you usually have no idea whatsoever what you are bidding on.
It is a wonderful, fun fund raiser, and they did quite well tonight. We had a lovely sit down dinner and drinks and a chocolate bar for dessert. Yum.
We sat with our friends, Mike and Gloria, and had a good time with them and the other great folks at our table. There was a program, where the president of Rotary, Julie, gave out nice awards to people who have worked on different projects.
But then, she called John up, and he started speaking, and he gave me a Paul Harris Fellowship in front of everyone. I know, it may sound silly, but it seemed just downright romantic for him to honor me in front of all people.
Rotary is a service organization that has been around for a very long time. It has many projects.
Rotary International is the spearheading member of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative and is the largest private sector donor. It has contributed more than US$600 million to the polio eradication activities in 122 countries.Source
Anyway, I am very proud to be a Paul Harris Fellow, and I thank my handsome husband for his efforts with all my heart.

Men, men, men, men, men
I'll never understand men.
That's all.
UPDATE - John did not do anything wrong. Sometimes, I just don't get him.

I have the very best huband on earth
The last 7 days have been absolutely horrid so far as travelling/work goes. From losing my corporate credit card on Sunday to being stranded at Midway Airport last night, along with a sinus infection, muscle spasms in my shoulder and neck, and the hard drive on my laptop crashing.
Fortunately, my clients are great, and I loved working with them.
But, I'm so worn down, worn out, tired and just generally yucky, that after John picked me up from the airport at noon, took me to a new micro brewery for lunch, and brought me home before he went back to work, I laid down on the bed with all the dogs and kitties and fell asleep.
Sound asleep.
So asleep that before I knew it, John was opening the front door.
So asleep that I was not ready a Christmas Party tonight. I really did want to go, I like the people who will be there a lot, but I'm just exhausted.
But John didn't mind - at least I don't think he minded - and he let me stay in bed and now he is braving the cold and snow to bring back the fixings for a margarita.
He is most definitly the bestest husband on earth!

Finally!
John comes back home tomorrow - we will get to spend Friday, Saturday and oh, half of Sunday together before I fly off to Washington D.C.
So, Bosq - do you wanna have a drink and dinner next week?
Then there is a chance that I will go directly from DC to Grand Rapids for a weekend upgrade - still waiting to hear on that one. But I will be home the entire week of Thankgiving - yay!
I've spent much of this week trying to make myself a place in the mudroom for fiddling around with my stained glass stuff and other artsy things, and for John to have room to mess around with his stuff, too. We have a huge basement, but the finished part is pretty much the Armory and the unfinished part is dark and dreary and not a place I like to hang out doing stuff in.
I did this once before, but with all my traveling, the workbench got stacked up with all kinds of stuff and became completely unusable. So... I bought some heavy duty Velcro and put some strips on the walls, and I am putting velcro on all the tools that laying all over the house - we both have a bad habit of getting tool out and using it and then just putting it in the nearest drawer or on the nearest shelf or table. Needless to say, because we can never remember where we put things, we end up running out and buying what we need quite often.
As a result of our disorganisation, we now have duplicates of many tools and triplicates and more of a lot of tools.
I don't know if we will be any better at putting things away since we just have to stick them on the wall, but it is definitely worth the try.

Today was a special day
I suppose you will need some background to understand this. It is about hair - my hair.
I have known John for a bit over 12 years. We have been married for 7 1/2 years. All this time my hair has been pretty darn short because I was always told that it is too fine to have long. I have had red hair, brown hair, highligted hair, poofy hair and my normal very straight hair, very short.
John has never noticed any of the weird things I've done with my hair - and if I asked him about this or that cut, he has always said "As long as you are happy with your hair, it's fine with me and that's all that counts". And I have always appreciated his outlook, since my hair is *not* my best feature.
Well, I have been letting my hair grow for about 8 or 9 months, and it is finally long enough that it almost hits my shoulders. And thanks to the best stylist on earth, my hair looks good.
And today, for the first time ever, John said "your hair looks good like that".
Wow.

Good morning, handsome!
Can't wait to get home to see you, handsome - I have missed you so much this week. I'm getting packed up and ready to go. I am going to stop by the client's datacenter for about 5 minutes, if I can get by with that. I've been gone 12 out of the last 14 days, and I am tired!
I'll see you this afternoon at the airport.
love you and lust you!

Good Morning, Sweetheart!
Hope you slept well! Were the cats nice this morning, or did they start whining at 4:30 AM again? Barnacle sure is a noisey kitty!
Was Houdini a good boy? I know that Shadow and Whiskey were good!
This is going to be a long day. I need to do work for other clients after I get done today. I guess I should get going. Talk to you later!
love you!

Good Morning, Handsome!
Rather than risk embarrassing myself again by sending my morning note to John, I'm just going to do it here. Hi, Sweetie, I missed you last night. I had a hard time sleeping, even though the room is nice.
I have to get moving so I can drive up to Lake Mary and get something to eat before I go to the client's data center.
Tell all the critters hello. Hope your day is lots of fun.
love and lust you!

Date Night!
I am taking my beloved out to dinner tonight. He has worked very hard both at work and on the Castle Argghhh!!! Fighting Fusileers For Freedom Spirit of America campaign.
We are meeting at our favorite Outback, and I shall ply him with yummy Margarita's and ribeye steak!
In the meantime, go and donate! I did. You should!
