All these graphics remind of Soviet-style propaganda

But this one, demonstrating some kind of goofy Obama Salute really makes me ill.

In fact, I think the graphic would be more accurate like this:

this sign was created by some company called The Loyalty Inc in California. I have never seen Obama use it. Besides how would this be any different than when George W supporters use a 3 finger salute back in 2000. So really Bush was the first one to do something like this. Have you seen Obama endorse this yet?

response to the other thread "Ymarsakar" Can you tell me that you have met an honest politician? Please show me one that is truely honestly and not out for some political gain. i don't see how what i said and response about everyone is evil is the same. How many times do the people we elect either Republican or Democrat get into trouble for something. There is always a political scandal here and there. i wish they would stop trying to be someone they are not. They lead a double life.Seems like both parties always say one thing and do another. Remember back in 2004 Bush said he is "passionate" about protecting the business community from "frivolous lawsuits" and will work hard to get legal reform. 4 years later and where are we with that? in closeing i didn't say everyone was evil I was only pointing out the fact of the lack of honest politicians. i think our whole political party system needs to be overhauled. I won't get started talking about this.....

Honest question here, SWWBO. Given that I've seen art from the South West and down MExico way that uses the same style what exactly makes it Communistic?

Sure, it has the same styling as the Lennin posters, but you can see the same style in use of depictions of Mexican peasants hanging in the Santa Ana museum.

I'm just asking to see why it is others see it and go 'Oh, definitely Communist iconography, no question,' when all I see is crappy and cheesy art.

yep...looks like the sign of an asshole to me..but then the Obama Kool Aid drinkers will disagree...until he leads them down that primrose path and they scream it was all Bush's fault that they voted for Obama

Jon Lovitz said it best as he played Imamobama: "Hi, I've had two flying lessons. Can I be your pilot?"

CBT - it isn't the technical style that makes people draw these connections - it's the imagery and use to which it's put.

There's a *lot* of Nazi art that stylistically looks like a lot of art in government buildings in the midwest, as in Thomas Hart Benton's work.

Yet, we take that art, and stand it up next to Nazi art of similar style and execution - and even leaving aside specific Nazi imagery, we know it's not Benton's work in terms of what it portrays and the focus of the piece.

Much of the stuff that Senator Obama's campaign puts out - because his campaign is focused on the Senator as a "Great Man" more than anything else - if very reminiscent of Communist, heck, any autocratic oligarchic system, because it focuses on the man, the "Great Leader", rather than on other forms of symbolic representation of ideas or ideals.

It's iconography.

I find it disturbing, because, well, frankly, it is *so* focused on the individual that it implies all else is irrelevant - which is a very autocratic oligarchic meme.

I wouldn't be any happier with Senator McCain's campaign were it doing similar things.

Of course, I admit, that in my politics and my sense of history - I really really really dislike charismatic leaders in democratic polities.

The focus is about the job, not the person doing the job.
