Getting paid for doing something you love is pretty cool!
I have been using Exposure Manager dot com as my repository for photos for several years. They have a very nice thingie bopper that allows you to set up a gallery of photos for sale.
Well, my friend, DaGoddess, talked me into entering a contest and in doing that, I saw one of the sponsors, Photoshelter.com. So I checked out their web site, and they are a seller of stock photos as well as selling space for pics. Well, I thought maybe some of my pictures might be good enough for their collection, so I submitted 9 photos.
They accepted one! Not the one I thought they would like, but a super closeup of a wasp - go figure!
So now they will market it, and I have the rights to submit more photos to them. Yay! Since they liked the wasp, I went out today and took pictures of more insects. See if those are any good.
I hope I can make some money with my photography, I'm not doing so great with the farmer's market and vegetables - our weather has totally sucked! Rain, rain, rain and more rain. Punctuated by incredibly humid hot days. Ugh.
Anyway, I'm thrilled.

I feel a rant coming on
Gad, the choices this year for president really suck. Obama is the most left-wing member of Congress ever, and I sincerely doubt his strength and ability to preside as President of the United States - the man can't even quit smoking! Some blogs claim he is trying to hide the fact that he is still smoking.
Now, I understand that smoking is a very hard habit to stop. I smoked from the time I was 13 until I was 34 years old - at the last, I was smoking 2 or more packs a day. Now, as a "typical white person" who happens to be a woman, I was able to stop smoking all by myself without nicotine patches or pills or anything - just had to change some habits.
I am now 55 years old, so, I think I can say I was successful. How can I vote for a man who can't quite smoking - doesn't have that much fortitude?
Shit, if we were attacked by Iran, I bet Obama would surrender to them and I'd have to walk around with my head covered and sneak off to Mass in some basement before being caught by the crazy Islamists and beheaded.
Personally, I don't think lawyers should be allowed to run for President of the USA - they have a very warped picture of life in the USA. They only see the crooks and the injured by accidents. They don't realize that most of us are really pretty happy. A lot of us don't feel a need to change everything.
Oh, and speaking of change - what exactly DOES Obama want to do to change us?
His crazy, hateful wife said he will make us work and he will make us change - what the hell does that mean? Prison camps? Reeducation camps?
Oh, and McCain is also an awful candidate. He is actually thinking of making Bloomberg (nanny bloomberg) his VP candidate. If that happens, I'm voting for Hillary. I'll write her in.
I don't like her, either, but hell, the more I read, the more I hear, the more I see, the more moderate she seems.
And I'm so, so sick of the darn politicians who want to make a windfall profits tax to punish the oil companies. Good God! We tried this before - Mr. Jimmah Carter did that. I remember it well - the energy crisis of the 70s. The windfall profits tax DID NOT WORK and made us more dependent on foreign oil than ever!!!!!!!!!
Why would anyone have any incentive to produce more oil if the result is the punishment of higher taxes? It has been proved, over and over and over again that raising taxes is bad for the economy.
Just want to scream!!!

We've had a lot of these appear lately

This little keet hatched about an hour before this pic was taken. She is almost dry, but pretty worn out after all that hatching business.
I think we have close to 35 or 40 keets. It's really hard to count them. They move very quickly!

I'm proud to be a friend of Jane Novak's
Jane's blog is called Armies of Liberation. She has been writing about the country of Yemen so effectively that she is considered an enemy of the Yemeni state.
She was interviewed this morning on Fox and Friends. Please, watch her interview, and then, contact your congressperson about the evil regime of Yemen and their human rights abuses.

I can has sales!?
I've been trying to grow things and take care of animals. Yesterday, after digging up and rinsing off about 150 huge Walla Walla green onions, I made my first trip to the Farmer's Market of Leavenworth, Kansas, and sold out! Didn't make much money, because the weather has been odd and not conducive for growing a lot of things of late, however, it looks like we will have a bumper crop of wild blackberries and gooseberries. I know I can easily sell the blackberries - but the gooseberries, I'm not so sure about!
I have planted non-wild cultivars of blackberries and raspberries, but they will not produce much this year, as they are just getting established. I somehow killed all my grapevines, so I'll try them again next year. Or maybe sometime this summer, when I'm not too busy with other things.
The tomatoes are looking good, so are the potatoes and the various hot peppers and the basil looks wondrous.
My beans are not doing well - I must have put them in the wrong place - I think I'll still try them, only somewhere else, and start them in the ground rather than in the house.
I think I may need a greenhouse - Hmmmmm.
