Okay, I'm back
I didn't really feel like writing anything, so I didn't. I had a busy week. I have joined the Leavenworth Farmers Market, and I attended my first meeting on Saturday morning. They are all very nice people who really seem to enjoy growing things and selling them at the market.
Now that I have paid for a spot for the season (which does not start until May), I have to be sure I have something to sell! So I set up some shelving units in the basement with some seed flats so I can start some of the seeds.
I'm afraid that I'm not totally sure which seeds to start first! I bought a ton of seeds, it seems, and I have not even received a bunch of them in the mail yet.
I suppose herbs and tomatoes would be a good place to start. This year is going to be experimental for me - find out what I can grow well and what I'm really crumby at!! LOL
I also hope to manage to get some of my crafts finished in time for the market season, too.
Much work to do!!!

I'll look foward to supporting your efforts! Especially the Tomatoes - mmmmmmm.... can't get enough of them. I find that basil, dill, parsley and sage grow REAL well (practically weeds). In fact, I rarely have to re-seed. They just keep coming back. Any kind of mint is the same way, if you put it near a well watered area. I've had less success with rosemary, oregano and thyme. Collard greens (and kale)also come back year after year if you let them self-seed. And they thrive all year long; we were picking collards out of the snow until recently!
Good luck!

Awesome! Now that I know you'll be selling at the Market I'll actually drag myself out of bed and through the whole shower ritual on Saturday mornings just to come see you. (And, meanwhile, I'm not going to bother planting a garden this spring, so yours better do well!)

I think herbs are a great idea...at least in Nebraska it is hard to find fresh herbs at the farmer's market, believe it or not!
Tomatoes are always a good idea! I especially like your idea on heirlooms....a good variety of those will really get you noticed! :-) If you can, romas might be good, too, as they are very good sauce tomatoes - very meaty and low on seeds.
I can hardly wait until it's warm enough to think about gardening and fresh veggies....YUM!!!
