SNOW!!!!
We are having our first snowfall of the season. It's really snowing pretty hard. The guineas and chickens all went back into the coop, they don't seem to care much for the snow!
I'll have to go and make sure that the horses can get water in a while and maybe haul some hay out to them, if it snows so much that the grass is covered..

So you didn't get the Snow, Sleet, and Freezing Rain of this last weekend like we did here in the Great White North?
I got to shovel an inch of sleet/ice/water off the drive way last Sunday.

You are too nice to those horses. We have wild mustangs in E. OR, and they will survive almost a foot of snow without having to be hay-fed. They get real good at pawing through the snow to get to the forage, and they get good FAST. They will also break a skim of ice on their trough to get at the water.
Really cold temps, in the teens or worse, get to them, and then you need to supplement their feeding with whole grains. When I lived in the UP of MI, all the farmers did up there to survive their livestock was feed them more, and it regularly went below zero at night and didn't get to 15 during the day.
