How long does the odor of skunk linger on a dog?
Gunner managed to piss off a skunk last night - yuck.

The odor can last for a long time. We had one of our dogs tangle with a skunk, once. There is a commercial product called Skunk-Off that works pretty well, but it's a bit pricey (depending on the size of the dog).
This was a big dog, so we used the old standby, tomato juice, on the dog and the Skunk-Off on the walls he rubbed against when he rushed into the house. The dog was not happy about getting a bath until he realized that we were bathing him in *food*! He started drinking the juice that was pooling in the bottom of the tub while we bathed him!
Both the tomato juice and the Skunk-Off reduced the odor to a manageable level. I'd recommend the tomato juice for the dog, since I don't remember if the Skunk-Off is suitable for applying directly to the critter.

I have a friend at work who swears by Skunk-Off and uses it on all his animals. I don't know, maybe he goes looking for skunks to bother.
As the line goes: For External Use Only. Indefinite Shelf Life. Always spot test for color fastness. (They must mean furniture, not animals.)

Oh boy. T-juice on the dog - maybe 2 large cans of it (lather, rince, make a bloody mary, repeat). Then johnson's baby shampoo to get out the gawdawful smell of the tomato juice.

Skunk Off is the answer as the previous notes say. The odor takes 7-10 days to fade like a cold. Try the vet for Skunk Off or any new product recently introduced. We had a similar crisis with two greyhounds who got into the house what a thrill.

Boy - Good thing that there aren't any Pepe Le Pews back home. The way they behaved, my Rotties would surely been sprayed many-a-times
