Quick update on what I've been doing

1. Good news - I have a job interview next Friday for one of several positions at the company I currently work for. I think I have a good chance of getting at least one offer.

2. I bought a Nikon D80 SLR digital. I will be prying/cutting/slicing/burning open the damned clamshell packaging that the 2 gigabyte storage card is in sometime today and I will take pictures and publish them here for you!

3. I'll be going out to the farm to feed S'mudge (the new barn cat, thankfully healthy according to Dr. Nikki Green, our vet)

4. I have to pick out flooring, fixtures, doors, wall colors and wood stain colors for our bedroom at the farm. Besel's in Leavenworth is going to make one big room for us out of two small ones. The faster I pick this stuff out, the faster the bedroom will be finished and the faster we can start really moving in!

5. We might have to get a T1 for internet service. There is no decent alternative that I can find so far. We need to check wireless broadband, but I'm a little discouraged at the alternatives in rural areas.

6. I will be building the brooder for the soon-to-be-hatched guinea babies, called keets, today. I found instructions for a great, easy brooder here.

7. Oh, I joined Slim4Life and started the program last Sunday. I have a lot to lose, so it's not really surprising that so far I have lost 8 pounds. I'm not hungry and I feel okay. I do have to take a ton and a half of supplements, though, and it's easy to forget something! I'm very hopeful that between eating right and doing more physical work, I should be able to lose all this fat.

8. I will also be getting pallets for the two outbuildings where I want to store our hay this weekend. It takes up way too much room in the barn!

9. With any luck, I'll get a start on the pasture fence. But that might be asking too much!

So, I'll be busy, but I will check in. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Liar - you outsourced that job.

OMG - Take that sharp instrument away from John!!
heh.

Beth, you're awesome. I'm sure you'll do well on the Slim4life program, and this is a great time to get in gear with all the other changes :-)

So I see two hidden news items in this update:

1) John has (probably) bayonetted himself (again)

2) John gets to move 170 bales of hay again. We won't mention that this winter he'll get to move them for the third(? or will it be fourth) time since that will be just one or two at a time.

1. No blood was shed in the course of opening the package. I used blunt instruments. My fingers.

2. My math is a little different, Steve. I've already moved them twice. Once into the truck/trailer, and once off of them into the barn. So... I'll get to move them 4 more times - up and down to the outbuildings... up and back to the stable. At least on lifts 3 and 4 it won't be all 175 in a rush.

I cheat, any time I have clamshell packaging like that, I use my band saw. Opens it instantly.

Oh and I have a D80 myself. I love it.

My friend and her daughter took 15 minutes to "unpackage" the doll that was in this horrid new form of packaging. I know there is pilfering in shops but it is getting ridiculous these days. The worst is that if not "returned in original packaging" you have zero chance on a refund if defective, unless you throw tantrums like I do. :-)

A T1? Maybe you could sell wireless out to your neighbors and make a little money on the side? Or are they to far away? Hmmm... I wonder how much a tower runs?
