I was trying to be helpful, really

The grass needed mowing badly - the temperature had finally broken and it wasn't raining. I was out at the farm to build my guinea coop, but the grass was so long that I was startled by a snake whilst walking from the house to the barn, so I decided to mow first.
At least I got a lot of the yard mowed before I did this. I broke it. Still have to build the chicken coop - I'll do that today.

So, you did a bad job of mowing the grass?
Sounds like you did exactly what you were asked then.
Is it really broke, or just hung up? I can see having sheared the pin for the blade if you bottomed out on it.

Actually, Steve... you should *see* what the grass looks like. She was bored, she was creative... the back yard looks like a Union Jack. Snerk.
She broke (hey, it's three years old) the cable that engages the blade clutch.
Woulda happened to me if I'd been driving.
Being in the ditch, however... no, that wouldn't have happened.
