Well, this explains it!
Aaron has an illustrated post that explains that we Earthlings are indeed responsible for the global warming that is occurring on Mars.

So that's how we earthlings are causing Mars to undergo global warming. I thought it was fumes emitted by Spirit, Opportunity, Pathfinder and Sojourner.
