I must be out of my mind
You all know that last weekend, I laid down the last of the tile (vinyl tile) that I started 9 years ago. Well, today, I noticed that the fucking toilet is leaking, and two tiles are unstuck - I looked, and the fucking subfloor is all wet and warped.
Fortunately, my company's stock shot up about 10% on Friday. I had put in an order to sell my options about a month ago if the stock reached a certain price - it reached it, so I'm about $3,000 richer after taxes.
I decided, what the fuck. (Yes, I'm full of fuck this and fuck that today). I'm going to have the floor professionally done. Maybe with ceramic tile, or stone. And then, I looked at the incredibly ugly light blue plastic tiles on all four walls of the bathroom, and I tore most of it down. And then, I looked at the ugly striped wallpaper above where the tile used to be. And I pulled most of it down. Now I'm looking at the ugly, 5 foot wide mirror over the ugly bathroom cabinet, and I'm going to get rid of that, too. And then, I think I'll paint the cabinet and have a new top put on it, and I think I'll get one of those vessel sinks which I think look so cool, and I'm going to get a pretty, smaller mirror and put shelves on either side.
Only, I'm going to get as much of it done by SOMEONE ELSE as I can afford.
I might even get a jacuzzi to replace the 45 year old bathtub. Lowes has one for $700 that will fit.
Oh, I am also going to paint the ceiling.
so there!

Beth,
Ceramic tile's really not that hard to do -- And if you hit Lowe's or Home Depot about this time of year, the tile is pretty cheap. Mortar and grout are cheap year around.
We did a 40x60 foot basement living room over a weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, just my bride & I.
If it's a bathroom you're tackling, save the $500 you'll pay someone else, and apply it to the fund for those hideous things John calls Margaritas :-)

Good for you, Beth! A jetted tub is worth any price - I love mine :-)

I believe I mentioned some time ago on one of your home improvement posts that these projects never ends where you think they do. Fix up one room, then you need to do it's neighbor. New floors lead to new paint, cabinets, etc.
Good luck.

Uhh....
I'm going to fix the bathroom vent fan that died the other day.
Got lucky and one of the gentlemen I talked to a Lowes clued me in to the fact that most of them don't have to be replaced - they have a motor / impeller unit that's designed for easy replacemnt - the electrical literally unplugs from a socket inside the vent fan unit and the rest is just a couple of screws.
Thought we were going to have to hire someone go up into the attic (after we spent a couple of days making the access accessible).
So, um.
Have fun!

John - Your name will come up if you get in the way. Stand clear.
Congratulations on your windfall and you new jacuzzi.
