Day 4

Still have a shiny sink. I am getting the morning routine down and I gotta tell ya, the FlyLady is right about wearing shoes - makes me feel like I'm really at work.

Anyway, I'm doing her babysteps - starting to get sticky notes around the house to remind me to shine my sink and get dressed in the morning and one I made for myself - no more than 5 minutes of Gmail per hour. I can get so caught up emailing my friends!

Speaking of emails - ;P - as we mentioned in our exchange today, I do appreciate the Fly Lady, and it's not her fault I don't keep up with the Daily Missions. But after spilling bleach on my third pair of jeans -- not to mention leaving scuff marks all over my white ceramic tile floors from my sneakers -- I went back to wearing my comfy sweats and cheap slippers until 4 p.m.

That's about an hour before VH gets home, and that's when I kick it into overdrive getting my kitchen counters cleared one more time along with my dining table's hot spot, then I jump in the shower or bath and then "get dressed to the shoes." Because Fly Lady's right: our family should see us looking nice sometimes besides when we're going out.

Point is: find what works best for you and don't fall into the trap I did thinking that if I couldn't follow Fly Lady's every mission and rule I was a failure. If anyone's adamant that we need to find what works for us, she is!

Hey, Kate,

we have different circumstances - I am on the clock at 8 am, and I find I'm more responsible if I'm dressed for work. :)

You have to understand that when I was not traveling this past year, I'd work from my bed with my nightgown on - not a healthy thing!!!

I think I will have to try setting the timer for 15 minutes. Perhaps I can also get more done in a day, and not spend so much time here in front of my PC.
Happy New year to you both.

Been following Flylady for a few years now and NO my house isn't spotless and totally organized! I do the missions most days, and it's definetly better than it was before I started, though! We have a 'homey, lived-in look' that I find pleasant! *S*
