This is the kind of Severe Weather Warning that I can deal with
FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 8 AM CDT THURSDAY...
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN PLEASANT HILL HAS ISSUED A FREEZE
WARNING.WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 1 AM TO 8 AM CDT THURSDAY.A COLD CANADIAN AIR MASS WILL MOVE INTO NORTHERN MISSOURI AND
NORTHEAST KANSAS TONIGHT. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO DROP INTO
THE UPPER 20S TO AROUND 30 DEGREES ACROSS THIS REGION BY EARLY
THURSDAY MORNING. PLANTS... ESPECIALLY THOSE IN UNSHELTERED
AREAS...WILL LIKELY BE DAMAGED OR KILLED BY SUCH A FREEZE.A FREEZE WARNING IS ISSUED FOR THE FIRST OCCURRENCE OF
TEMPERATURES AT OR BELOW 32 DEGREES LATE IN THE GROWING SEASON.
TYPICALLY... TEMPERATURES OCCURRING AT OR BELOW 28 DEGREES FOR
SEVERAL HOURS ARE NEEDED TO FREEZE WATER IN MOST PLANTS.

Amen. My allergies have been merciless this year, so this change in our weather is quite welcome news. Except, of course, that I now need to go shopping for sweaters, jeans and a new winter coat.
