Rattlesnake
It was a cool enough day that this guy was a bit sluggish. I was taking a walk and noticed him about 6 feet away - I went no closer and depended on my trusty camera to get as good a picture as possible.
I was not sure what kind of snake it was, but John looked up the markings and it is some kind of rattlesnake native to that area.

I can say from experience that realizing you are close to a rattle snake only by the feel of them moving under your foot is a great way to reach your target heart rate for the day. I may have successfully levitated that day too, but that much adrenaline in your system tends to make your memory of events a little fuzzy.
