Pope Benedict | Main | This has become even more ridicuous than the cartoon outcry

Naturally, the anti-Catholic New York Times Demands the Pope apologize
Go read this unsigned New York Times editorial and then come back here.
I'll wait.
Now, aside from the fact that the editorial writer obviously did not read the Pope's entire speech, just where does he/she get off on bitching about Pope Benedict's well-reasoned words? Pope Benedict, has never, ever called for a holy war;, never ever, insisted that someone must die because of a perceived insult to Catholicism, and has never, ever insinuated that by running off and dying while killing the enemies of Catholicism will get you 72 virgins in heaven.
But the New York Times is angry at the Pope for "sowing pain".
When was the last time the New York Times took to task all the Muslims throughout the world who want to kill or force to submit all of us who are Christians?

Update: Check out Captain's Quarters, too!
And also read DeoOmnisGloria.com
And this MySpace entry.
UPDATE the Second: Rod Dreher has the best fisking of the New York Times editorial here.

I for one am sick of these people... the singleminded sickness, the hatred. But the NYT is even worse, for being so politically correct they can't take their heads out of their arses long enough to understand exactly what the heck the Pope said, thus feeding into people who freely admit they want to kill us!!
Aaarrrrggghhhh....

OK, so some crazy Muslims say and do some crazy shit. That means the man in a purple dress gets to say anything he wants? Not sure I get the logic there. Oh, wait, yes I do. It's the language of religious bigotry. Are you taking notes, Mel?
How about "all the Catholics throughout the world who want to knock off little boys behind the rectory?" How does that sound?

Sorry. argghhh! ;)

So "some crazy muslims" - implying of course, that the numbers are somewhat, I dunno, co-equal.
How many mosques have been burned in the Christian world, vice the what, seven churches that got torched this week?
"That means the man in a purple dress gets to say anything he wants>"
Um, yeah, why not? The implication is what, that if he doesn't include a ringing condemnation with every comment, vice simply expecting people to, oh, I dunno, read the whole thing? Silly argumentation. You are implying then, that, therefore, he cannot say anthing, unless it's approved by the Vatican Imam?
As for the rest, well, hey, at least when they're found, they're arrested and generally dealt with - and no the Church in the US (where the problem mostly exists) has smothered itself in ignominy by it's protection of the pedophiles. But, therefore, Benedict can say nothing, ever, not approved by some mythical council on appropriateness.
Snerk. If that's the best you've got, don't bother.

I guess expecting logic from wild-eyed religious fanatics is a lost cause.

"Those religious nuts have more crazy people among their ranks than we do! So, we're better religious nuts than they are!"
This is the Web site of a rational person, apparently:
(really beautifully designed, too!)

I am in awe of the editorial staff of The New York Times. Just when Ithink there is no possible way for them to write anything more stupid that the stuff I have already read.......they amaze me! What asshats.
