Buying stuff

I like buying stuff on the Internet. I can shop at my leisure and get reviews on stuff and check prices. I have, however, been something of a sucker when it comes to those club things - you know what I mean. Book of the month, Cookbook of the Month, Wine of the Month, Cheese of the Month, Flower of the Month - hmm, I wonder if there is a Chocolate of the Month Club?

Anyway, my experience has been that I'll join one of these clubs with the intention of just getting the special deal, but I end up in the club forever.

I never get around to canceling anything.

That's why I have about 100 cookbooks. Everytime another one is delivered, that I forgot to go on line to tell them I don't want it. I think," I have to write them a letter and cancel this", but then I see how many points I have that I can buy other cookbooks with, and I think, "well, heck. I should use these up first, then I'll cancel" and then I'll find something really cool - usually a gadget, but the points don't apply to gadgets, but I get it anyway and before I know it, another cookbook is at the door because I once again forgot to log into the website and check the "don't send me anything this month or next month" buttons.

Gah.

Anyway, I am ready to buy some of this Bare Minerals Makeup. The Ladies of the Cotillion all concur that it is wonderful stuff.

This is my concern, though - I like the kit that has everything you could possibly want, but that fine print - - - I don't want to join a club. If you order the kit, they automatically enroll you in this makeup club. Gad, I don't wear makeup at all right now - I don't want to be stuck getting it for the rest of my life!

Yes, I know, you can cancel anytime.

But, remember, I never get around to canceling anything! Ever. Well, hardly ever.

So, I sit here and stew - to buy or not to buy - to get the really neat deal or to suck it up and pay full price for everything to avoid being sucked into yet another club.

And where is there a Chocolate Club I can sign up for???

I'm all for a chocolate of the month club!! I've been part of book of the month, etc etc and know how it goes when you have to try to remember to cancel. Just seems like we never get around to it before the next one arrives.

Yes! Chocolate of the Month! That's one I wouldn't mind "forgetting" to decline! ;-)

I did the Conservative Book Club and ALWAYS forgot to send in the stupid card (they let you decline the selection online now, of course), so I ended up with a bunch of books I'll never read and didn't want and I'm too lazy to have bothered sending them back. I also did that a couple times back in the day with Columbia House or BMG (whichever one it was), but I actually did send those back. Extra books I can handle, bad music NO WAY. ;-)

I don't blame you for eschewing the Bare Minerals club. I hate those things. And you just know they'd send you stuff long before you ran out, too. Blah!

I know thousands of women must love that stuff, but I have to tell you; I signed up for it and then cancelled because it made my skin drier than the Sahara in August.

Of course, I probably could have used a different moisturizer or something but I didn't think the makeup was THAT fantastic.

Just an unsolicited testimonial. Heh.

Too late Margi - we went on safari into Oak Park Mall and SWWBO scored some at Sephora.

While she did that, I read a lot of price sheets on expensive car (did you know, for example, that the 23,000 VW Bug Ragtop is 40% Mexican, 20% German, 8% US and Canadian, with a tranny that comes from Japan and and engine made in Mexico?

And gets 22 city, 30 hi-way?

And don't get me started on what I deduced about the carousel...

I started using the bare minerals just three months ago and really like it. I do use a good moisuriser under it and have no problems with dryness. They will send you your next batch in about three months, but I called and extended my deliveries to six months apart as I do not use makeup every day.

I know tons of people who love the Bare Minerals. I've tried it and didn't like it, but I want to go to a Sephora and get the right color, applications tips etc...

Good luck with it! We need pics!!
