Neighborhood news
Yesterday, I heard a lot of sirens, loud ones - like they were just outside the house, and then, they stopped.
I figured by the reaction of the dogs that something was going on in the neighborhood. Since I was busily working, John went out with camera to see what was up.
One of our neighbors had fire! And John has a good post with pictures all about it.
Elsewhere, in neighborhood news, our next door neighbor kids want a dog or cat, but since their mom won't let them have one until they are older, they all coming trooping over to our house several times a day to play with the dogs and cats.
I have to get them to understand that just because I am home, it does not mean I'm not working!
But they are good kids, and I think John enjoys the interaction.

To a point. Like the critters, I can take about 30 minutes of Horde of Youngsters, then I wanna send 'em back to their Den Mother!

A few years back, and in the span of 18 Months, our little block in College Park had five house fires. All of them accidental. Faulty wire here, a faulty gas connection there, or a careless smoker...
For a while there, the whole neighborhood gasped at the sight of the big red truck flashing down the street; not knowing who was next.
The saddest loss was the old victorian home right next door to us - A complete loss. Back in 1910 The Wright Brothers boarded ther for a few years, on that very same house. They came to College Park to teach the fledling Army Air Corps how to drive their contraptions.

A sad loss to fire.

Sounds like they need some of the animal respomsibility. That will keep them at bay - a little. Sorry to hear about your neighbor.
