workity work work
Well, finally the painting is done. 4 fricking coats of paint!
Seems a bit much, but I guess red is one of those colors. Now, for the scary part - the floor . . .

Destruction Construction update here.

On design shows I've heard them say before putting red on the walls, you're supposed to paint with pink primer, because red is just like that. Not much use to you now that you've finished, but if you're planning for more...

Looks like kitty there, aproves of the Red.

Colored primer might have helped, but I've never seen the difference between one coat of colored primer and three coats of paint, and just putting on four coats of paint. I suppose primer might be cheaper...
So what are you doing with the floors?

Beth,
I really like the red in your kitchen. What color is the room adjoining it? In the picture that John has up at Castle Argghh?
I have a mango colored family room (the paint chip calls it "peach tea" but I prefer mango) and the kitchen opens up into it. My kitchen is a sagey kind of green.
We've been going through home improvement here as well. Two bathroom retiled, refloored, redone.
Because Jose, the tile guy, appreciated our business and our referrals to others, he's going to tile my kitchen backsplash for free. I just have to buy the the tile.
I want to do something kind of french provencial (I do hate the French though..:) or tuscan.
I think I'll be incorporating that kind of a red with the tiles.
I have a collection of Leonetto Cappiello posters in the family room and kitchen. That's where I'm getting my color palette from.

Carrie - John took the picture from the front hall - it's a kinda sage green with a darker green trim - the first door in the middle of the kitchen wall to the right leads to the dining room - which is going to be some kind of sagie green, I think. Right now, it is just beige with peeling wallpaper on one wall.
It's coming along - I'm starting to get the hang of laying the laminate floor. I finally figured out which saw worked best and though it is very slow right now, since I'm not on vacation, I am working my way around the peninsula and getting better at cutting the stuff all the time.
With a little luck and an easy work day tomorrow, I hope to put in a few hours on flooring - Now that the tough part is done, it should be lots easier and faster.
Then I have to do the baseboard molding and crown molding - I think I am going to do something like distress the wood for the molding to make it more casual - and of course, I have to put some kind of finish on it.

Just let John move some things around and you should have that molding 'distressed' in no time!

Nice color, but do you stay in the same room when the cats got the nailgun?
