what a great, beautiful day!
The fun thing about living in Kansas is the weather. We can literally have 70 degree weather one day and snow the next. Today is one of those beautiful nearly spring days - 73 degrees, no humidity (unusual for us) and a half sunny sky.
I have about an acre of leaves just in the front yard that need to be disposed of. We raked and raked and raked last fall, but the Pin Oaks in the area drop leaves all winter long, and the leaves from everywhere in the neighborhood seem to be inexplicitly drawn to our front yard.
I need to rake, bag and clean up the leaves, the sticks, the trash that I will find under the leaves today. I also need to cut back some shrubs in front of the front porch that I just hate, they are deciduous, and die back in the winter. I'm going to pull them out and find some perennial flowering something or other for that space- but not those - yuch.
My Columbine is sprouting up already, as are a lot of my other perennial shade loving plants. We want to put in a hedge along the sidewalk this spring - we need a barrier of sorts to discourage people from coming into the yard to sit on my bench by the pond - also, since we are building a garden railway, we want to discourage kids from running thru the yard and breaking tracks, buildings, etc.
We have a lot of plans - not enough time, though. Or enough energy!

I wish I had an acre of land period. But during my travels through Kansas, I70 I believe. I have a friend there, I was entranced by the most beautiful wildflowers I have ever seen. Wizard of Oz Emerald City stuff. Pulled of the road to simply look at them. As for the leaves, have you ever considered a leaf vacuum?
