stuff

I really like the new show, The Unit. So does John.

Cassandra has been doing some pretty good writing lately - here and here - of course, great writing is parr for the course for Cassie.

Be sure and check out The Cotillion and all the fine ladies on the Cotillion blogroll.

Meanwhile, I'm not blogging much at all. Work is stealing my life away from me! I never, ever catch up, and right now, it is really wearing on me. I'm very tired - of course, that could be because I am getting used to some new medications. Celebrex is incredible stuff - I didn't know how much my joints hurt until the hurt went away - wow, it's amazing stuff. I can even go up steps without pain. Only bad thing - so far, it makes me tired, but I hope to get over that.

When I first had my car accident and was off the main pain drugs, my docs decided to put me on Celebrex. It worked for two weeks and then after that the pain came back in full force. And while on that med, I put on too much weight. I will never take that or Viox again. Neither worked for me at all. I'm glad it works for you though. Me? I'll just stick to the myriad of pills my doc has me on for now (Vicodin five times a day, Soma four times a day, Lyrica twice a day, and for bedtime I take Doxepin). It works for the most part.

When my bad knee acts up enough I get put on DayPro. Nothing hurts but if you get a headache, tough. It's a powerful enough NSAID that you don't want to do anything else that could put your kidneys at risk.

Haven't needed it for a number of years, fortunately.

And here's a bonus tip for you: eat a thing of active culture yogurt every day. Saw a blip in Science News over a year back about studies they'd done with mice GM'd to get arthritis early. It was a multi-way test involving plain water, 'dead' yogurt, 'active' yogurt, and just the culture from active yogurt. Mice that got the active yogurt culture developed arthritis later and had fewer symptoms. Mice that got the yogurt with active culture did even better. Now I get my 'rat therapy' every evening. When we forget for a few days I notice I have more trouble with my knee. Figure it's a tip worth passing along.
