Just one more kvetch, maybe

Okay, commenter Carrie points out that Ms. DS has a post up complaining about Julie Myers, Assistant Secretary for Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

In typical Debbie fashion, she is bitching because she doesn't like Julie's jewelry.
It seems that DS is under the extremely mistaken impression that the pin she is wearing is a "Mexican Eagle", not an American Eagle.

Well, aside from the fact that Mexico is in North America and therefore "American", it looks like Ms. DS is wrong, wrong, wrong.

Carrie actually left a comment on Debbie's post pointing out the fact that it is a Liberty Eagle pin, sold at the Library of Congress Gift Shop.

That is great investigative commenting, Carrie!

And naturally, Ms. DS is not correcting her post, even though the truth is obvious.

I know, who the hell cares about the jewelry someone wears - jewelry and clothes do *not* make a person.

But I do care about accuracy, and I think that in the interest of truth, these stupid errors and wrong conclusions should be pointed out.

Sorry, Ry - can't help it. Someone gives me some material, I'm gonna go with it!

Update: My handsome spouse, John, has discovered one of Carrie's original comments on Debbie Schlussel's post. He has also made a copy of the comment that Joanne Jacobs left there. You can find them both here.

Comments

The post struck me as so petty. There are legitimate criticisms of Julie Myers.
What she accessorizes with is not one of them.

I sent her an email before I commented.
Have heard nothing back.

I say, flood the world with the pins! Everybody order some, get pics taken with them on, put up a post, and Googlebomb her with DS, Incompetent Fashion Nazi!

Beth, I know, I know. Oppurtunities are scare and oppurtunity only knocks once.

We still got yer back.

I have to politely disagree about the jewelry. It's not like skin color - she has a choice about whether to wear any particular piece during any particular activity.

Although I will grant that normally all a brooch says about a woman is "I like flower-shaped jewelry" :-)

Harvey - my bitch with the evil DS is that Debbie is claiming that Julie is wearing an un-American eagle!

Besides, you know me - I don't care about the outside of people.

Posted by: swwbo at February 23, 2006 4:27 PM

And I'm the living embodyment of that!

Posted by: #82, er, John of Argghhh! at February 23, 2006 4:43 PM

It doesn't look like Carrie's comment is up over there.

Posted by: Tina at February 23, 2006 7:18 PM

I have reposted.
It isn't exactly the same comment.
Substance remains the same...

Posted by: Carrie at February 23, 2006 7:39 PM

Carrie,

I can't believe she deleted your previous comment- you were very polite and I don't see why anyone who is not trying to hide something would pretend that your comment did not exist!!!

Posted by: Beth at February 23, 2006 10:14 PM

She Who Wont Be Mentioned is playing by the DU and Kosack rules. Pure and simple. Jeez, even John doesn't delete the times we get zingers in on him(running, no particular destination, just running)

Posted by: ry at February 23, 2006 10:37 PM

I wrote about this too, after finding Carrie's first post before I found out you had written about this. I can't believe she deleted Carrie's comments. None of us are perfect and heck I've made mistakes too, but to delete someone because they were right and you were wrong? Not cool.

:-)

Posted by: Lisa Renee at February 23, 2006 10:53 PM

I can't believe it.
She deleted my comment again.

What's the definition of insanity?
something about doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result?

Everybody makes mistakes. It's what you do to correct it (or not) that can define you as a person.
Sheesh...

Posted by: Carrie at February 24, 2006 9:38 AM

DU or Daily Kos rules in effect. She isn't into debate outside the nicely defined barriers.

Posted by: ry at February 24, 2006 1:25 PM

Carrie, re-post and take a screenshot of it before she deletes it!

I took a screen cap of phin's trackback just now in case she deletes that too--if the twit KNOWS HOW (duh).

BTW, it's definitely not the first time she's deleted a comment--that's SOP for her.

She's a poltroon. The worst kind of blogger/pundit. Can't take it, only give it.

[Daffy voice]

The's Dethpicable!

[/Daffy voice]

Snerk. Just noticed she *has* to delete the comments. Othewise the fawning "attention to detail" compliment will be... moot.

Posted by: John of Argghhh! at February 24, 2006 4:38 PM

DS is a twit... if you poke your head into the blogosphere you are going to get hit by some pidgeon poop sooner or later... no use going ballistic about it either... life is too short for that. :-)

Posted by: RobC at February 25, 2006 2:37 AM

DS? Does that stand for dip shit?

Posted by: caveman82952 at February 25, 2006 10:13 PM

Since all comments on the Liberty Eagle pin had been removed, I posted again. The Library of Congress gift shop site is down, so I linked here: http://www.acec.org/publications/lastword2005/lw022505.htm

The blurb states:

(Jewelry designer Ann) Hand's most popular piece—the gold and pearl "Liberty Eagle" pin—has been worn for decades by first ladies and other famous political women.

First Ladies Hillary Clinton, Lady Bird Johnson, Nancy Reagan, and Barbara Bush have all worn the Liberty Eagle pin, as did Secretary of State Madeleine Albright.

Posted by: Joanne Jacobs at February 26, 2006 10:39 AM

I wonder what Ann Hand would think about DS's Mexican Eagle post?
www.annhand.com/homepage.html

A trip to her website has the Liberty Eagle prominently figured.

I'm going to leave comment over there too now. Heeeeheeeee

Y'all are cracking me up!

Posted by: Beth (the other one) at February 26, 2006 12:06 PM

(and leave A comment over there...PIMF)

Posted by: Beth (the other one) at February 26, 2006 12:07 PM

OK, I just took a screenshot of Joanne's comment instead. Priceless!

Posted by: Beth (the other one) at February 26, 2006 12:11 PM

Joanne, thank you very much! We'll find out tomorrow how Ms. Schlussel handles the truth.

Posted by: Beth at February 26, 2006 2:30 PM

Joanne,
She deleted your comment.
I suspect the same will happen with the comment that Lisa Ward made after yours.

Posted by: Carrie at February 27, 2006 8:46 AM

Guys, I don't think Debbie is insane or loopy. She has an agenda and is ruthless enough to have the truth be a casualty to that agenda. I pity her...went to her blog a coupla times and wont be going back.

Posted by: Cricket at February 27, 2006 3:12 PM

That would be me, and I was suprised she left my comment up. Maybe she didn't make the connection that I was the same Lisa.

:-)

Posted by: Lisa Renee at February 27, 2006 4:31 PM

Lisa,
Maybe it's her laserlike attention to detail...
;)
