Debbie Schlussel is a Twit

The definition of 'Twit' from dictionary.com:

1. The act or an instance of twitting.
2. A reproach, gibe, or taunt.
3. Slang. A foolishly annoying person

I am using the 3rd definition here.

I got another lovely, oh, so friendly email from her. I have to tell you, she writes like a 13 year old girl who is grumpy because no one asked her to the 8th grade party.

Well, first of all, here is my email to her after her last one to me:

Debbie,

Are you under the impression that I am married to Misha? That is funny - I take it back, you do have a sense of humour.

I was referring to the emails you sent to my husband, John Donovan. Perhaps you have never heard of my blog, She Who Will Be Obeyed, I'm only a "Large Mammal" but I don't see your blog anywhere on the Ecosystem or anywhere else. I'm only number 693 or so - my husband is at about #50. He has a pretty popular Milblog.

I had never heard of your blog, your talk show or your anything until you emailed my husband at johnbethd@yahoo.com - the email address we share - and you were very rude to him.
I think I shall publish it and the emails you sent me.

Are you under the impression that I am a naturalized American Citizen? Sorry, honey, but I was born here in the USA. I have even served our country in the Army Reserve - have you?
And my husband is a retired Army Officer who is the son of a retired Army Officer.

Also, I have never, ever used the C word anywhere in my blog and I have never, ever called anyone a whore or said anything about giving head- what on earth are you talking about?

Debbie - do you comprehend what you read? Are you capable of differentiating between one person and another, or do you get so many people who don't like your style that you just lump them all into the same 'person' - . You know nothing about me, not that it matters, but you are attributing words and statements to me that I have never said.

You think my post was hateful? Have you read your posts?

I asked you politely if you could back up your assertions about gas stations owned by Arab-Americans overcharging people in the '80s and sending the money to terrorist organizations on your blog. Your claim that you have information from the 80s from the FBI that no one else has. Sorry, I find that rather hard to believe. It seems to me that your utter hatred for all Muslims is coloring your writing.

If you would like to have a 'cat fight', we can do that, Debbie - only let's do it in public, on our blogs, eh?

Cheers,

Beth Donovan

And here is Ms. Schlussel's reply. Please note the "oh so mature" attitude of this dim-witted blond bulb.

I wouldn't dream of mentioning you on my site. 1) I know who your husband is. Where did I say it was Misha? You have this incredible ditzy ability to jump to conclusions and claim I said things I didn't. But your husband must be quite the (non)man if he needs you to defend him on your website, which is what you did. I guess your small, barely existent brain has a very small memory chip. I also never said you or your husband was 1) from Denmark or 2) was a naturalized citizen. Where did I say those things? You made them up. I said I'd happily trade your citizenship. Hello? . . . Anyone in there. You are in need of a "reading comprehension" course really badly. Ditto for your "brainy" husband who claims I said he was from Denmark. Where?

Let me say this to Debbie Schlossel or Schulessel or what ever her name is - I am eligilble to be in Mensa also, but I would not join because of people like you.

I am afraid that you are lacking in your reading comprehension skills, Debbie. And you most definitely need to learn how to write.
Go back and read your emails to me, Debbie. And read my original post and my replies back to you. Then sit down with a piece of paper and a pencil and see if you can figure out what you said and what I said.

I don't think you can do it.

Well, I got one more email from Debbie - and she threatens to report me to the FBI - why? I have no idea. I suppose because my opinions don't match her opinions.

You can have all the hunches you want. Who cares? You know nothing of which you speak, certainly in that case, and probably in most others. Keep reading my site. For someone who proclaims to hate me, you certainly seem to have some sort of obsession--you've cited several of my entries now--and I'm sure you will be returning often. I assure you I am NOT reading your site.

Are you sure you don't mean DENSA? In the attack on
achievement these days, a lot of groups are lowering
their standards, and if MENSA truly said you are
eligible, then they must certainly be lowering their
starndards, since IQ is the only standard they have.
But I'm glad to see that for someone who dislikes me,
you obviously read my bio, too. . . . Do I have to
warn the FBI about you, too?

What a bozo. We already have a sharp, witty, blonde conservative. Her name is Ann Coulter. Schlussel isn't in the same galaxy.

Posted by: rightwingprof at February 19, 2006 4:09 PM

I totally agree with you. Debbie doesn't have the brains, the wit or the looks that Ann has.

Posted by: swwbo at February 19, 2006 4:11 PM

You're right, she can barely write. She has two styles ("middle school book report" and "peevish rant"), each of which come in two flavors ("condescending" and "bland"). Give me her cans, a plunging neckline, and some free time and I'd bury her traffic. I don't think I'd even have to shave.

Posted by: Doug at February 19, 2006 5:13 PM

Just walk away dear, just walk away.

Posted by: John of Argghhh! at February 19, 2006 5:49 PM

The "I'm a lawyer, quit saying mean things about me." approach with Misha, the "I'm a genius, my membership in MENSA says so" approach with you, and the I don't have to reveal my sources, na na nana na" along with an unrepentant approach to getting parties and facts messed up in her lashing out at critics.

1. She is acting like a liberal.
2. I feel sorry for her clients.

Posted by: Blackiswhite at February 19, 2006 5:54 PM

Caution, Do not feed the trolls. Their bite is annoying, like fleas.

Posted by: Pete at February 19, 2006 5:58 PM

Her words certainly ring hollow, don't they? Very repetitive as well. What's a person to do when you can't even be insulted with some originality? Her panty wah after Misha's post disgusted me. He would destroy her in open debate, of that I am confident. But don't hold your breath unless you look good in blue. Or let the Rotties at her.....Anyway, I too, was qualified to join MENSA at one time. It's no big deal. I thought about it and decided to let it go, not replying. It's just that some of these folks are so far off reality I wouldn't trust them to walk me across the street on a green light, you know what I'm sayin'? Anyway Beth, I like your site.

Debbie Schnitzel is a piece of work. Similar to the piece of work I once stepped in at the park.

please dont waste your valueable time on some body like her-as the general told the reporters in new orleans {stuck on stupid}

Posted by: j at February 19, 2006 7:39 PM

What a litigious, paranoid twit. You're right--she's the grumpy 13 year-old. Maybe when she grows up, she'll be lucky and will have forgotten about what a jackass she made of herself. Of course, since she's in Mensa she likely won't forget. Pity her embarassment.

BTW, I always thought it was hilarious that I could be a member of MENSA (I guess we don't take ourselves so seriously?). Apparently they *do* let anyone in, judging from that proud, crowing representative of the membership. ;-)

When the snit with Misha first came up, I thought Debbie had some sort of meta-strategy she was playing out to increase her notoriety.

Now, having read entries in the saga from you and your husband, I've come to believe she's just reacting out of pique.

I'd say to save it for the Kos kiddies except that I don't really like having someone like Schlussel on "my" side.

Posted by: The Dread Pundit Bluto at February 19, 2006 10:36 PM

Holy crap. She sounds like me, only dumber. Well, that and she calls the FBI when she feels threatened. I just pray for a break-in so I can try out that new Sig Sauer.

Can't Understand Normal Thinking.

Posted by: Cheapshot911 at February 20, 2006 7:44 AM

What an odd person that one is. Follow John's advice and walk away.

Posted by: Major John at February 20, 2006 11:49 AM

She just don't understand how this whole blogging thing works, does she?

Or the rest of the real world, for that matter.

Now, I can understand why she's pissed off at me (although her way of dealing with it leaves much to be desired in the maturity department), I'd have been pissed off too, but where she gets off on unloading on you, Beth, I'll never understand and it's beginning to piss me off.

You asked her very politely for some sources for an article that you found interesting and she just went completely ballistic on you, bragging about her superior skills and how she didn't have to justify herself to anybody.

Pompous pissant, if you'll pardon me for using such language here.

Does she really want to start a blogwar?

If she does, she's sillier than I thought and that's saying quite a bit by now.

If she'd let the damn thing lie already, it'd be last month's news next week, but I'm beginning to suspect that her delusions of adequacy just won't let her.

Oh well, you reach out a hand to somebody and sometimes they bite it.

P.S.: I was invited to join MENSA as well. Now I'm glad I refused.

Posted by: Misha I at February 20, 2006 3:01 PM

Go ahead and join Mensa. The more anti-idiotarians it has, the better.

Speaking of which, I need to get around to re-joining. I let my membership lapse when I was a dirt poor college student.

Maybe if there's enough of us we can start an offician anti-idiotarian SIG (special interest group).

Posted by: Alan K. Henderson at February 20, 2006 7:24 PM

What a twit. I am curious though when she says "Do I have to warn the FBI about you, too?" Too? Who else is she reporting? Maybe I missed that.

Posted by: HD Wanderer at February 20, 2006 8:12 PM

She sounds strange and deranged.

Let it go, Debbie...

Posted by: Lady Heather at February 20, 2006 8:56 PM

She does sound increasingly unhinged. I'd back away, myself.

Posted by: JannyMae at February 20, 2006 10:02 PM

I've heard Schlussel talk on the Howard Stern show. She is crazy.

Posted by: Ed at February 21, 2006 5:26 AM

Debbie, I have some pointed shoes and would love to go cockroach stomping. [snip] All Beth did was ask you to back up your claim. That is called responsible reporting, not hearsay. The fact that you have attacked her shows you to be the liberal pundit that you really are. Beth is a good kind person who doesn't HAVE to prove anything because if she has posted something on her blog that is incorrect, she will take steps to make it right. All you have done is been shrill, frantic and insulting.

Posted by: Cricket at February 21, 2006 8:28 AM

Sorry Beth. If you want to take that down, go ahead. I get so tired of these people who seem to want to insist that because they say so or they heard it in their hourly conspiracy meetings via their implants it is TRUE and you had better get with the program! She is no better than a jihadist who demands that all who are in range capitulate.
(and Debbie, I used that word deliberately so you could look up the root word and its meaning, if you are so freakin' brilliant!)

Posted by: Cricket at February 21, 2006 8:33 AM

How did Mensa get into this? (And it is "Mensa", not "MENSA", thank you. Okay, I just realized that I have way too many pet peeves, to which I have just added anything Debbie Schlussel ever said.)

Posted by: Mike at February 21, 2006 10:48 AM

Note to Debbie: If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. You obviously don't have the skin to take the heat and now you've decided to roll over and wet on yourself and anything else you can hit. Temper tantrums are for children, and apparently you've forgotten this.

Posted by: JonB at February 21, 2006 12:52 PM

That woman has a personality disorder, clearly. I can't believe Michelle M, has anything to do with that caustic-slandering witch. I think WE should sue her for slandering Jay at Stop the ACLU.

Posted by: Marti at February 21, 2006 10:24 PM

I've been clicking down the list of links JoA posted. Left a comment on the last one. Dang, Beth, you're more patient than I would have been. That kind of crazy talk she wrote might have provoked the same, or prolly worse, with nautical language, from me.

Posted by: Justthisguy at February 21, 2006 10:53 PM

Oh, on the Mensa thing: I think that "g" is innate, and manners are learned. Or not.

Posted by: Justthisguy at February 21, 2006 10:57 PM

JTG - if you did that, you'd be the Rottie. And your readership would soar!~

Posted by: John of Argghhh! at February 21, 2006 11:14 PM

Mensa membership is based solely on your test score. As is often noted amongst the membership, 'smarts' is not required.

Also often noted is the fact that the people who most often make a big deal out of their membership... shouldn't.

And yes, I'm good at taking tests.

Holy Smoke..Check this out, off of Drudge. I am assuming Debbie sent them in to make these arrests.
