Sensitivity
I have apparently been insensitive to people of the Jewish faith by making this week's Carnival of the Recipes a 'Pork Only' affair.
I decided to make this week's Carnival 'pork only' to mock the English Council that has banned Piglet from government offices so as not to offend Muslims working there.
Religious dietary laws - be they in the minority or the majority - should not be the determining factor when it comes to regulations that limit free speech and freedom of expression. In fact, nothing should be regulating free speech and freedom of expressions. For goodness' sake - if it's okay to call a Crucifix soaked in urine art - and to have government funds pay for that, then certainly, it's okay for me to point out the sneaky infiltration of sharia laws in the West.
By the way, I am aware that Orthodox Jews have very similar same dietary restrictions that fundamentalist Muslims have, so please don't send me informational emails about your faith unless you want me to send informational emails about my faith - Catholicism - which is mocked regularly by bloggers of other faiths - from Jews to Muslims to Christians.
So, if anyone wants to bitch about my choice of recipes this week, bitch at me - not at the hostess of this week's Carnival.

Good grief! Some people have no sense of humor!
(And the above comment comes from a vegetarian--who was raised that way as part of religion!)

One of my mother's friends is jewish, but not especially observant. A few years ago he had a pig roast (!) and when they were recording it with the camcorder, he pulled his deer antlers off the garage wall and held them above the pig's head and said, 'look, mom, its ok!'
These people criticizing the Carnival really need to get a sense of humour...

I'm sorry you've been getting hassled, and/or the hostess of the Carnival has. When we limit what people can do by what we want to do, we take away their freedoms. When we limit what we can do by what they want us to do, they take away our freedoms. I'm voting for freedom. Not for PC-life.

That's ridiculous... What a shame you had to issue this near-apology. Days like this... I REALLY hate being PC.

Well, if some of our Jewish friends are a little sensitive about the pork-a-thon, that's OK. They have a right to be a little defensive and sensitive - the last hundred years hasn't exactly been a party for the Jews.
At the same time, all my Jewish friends know that the Christians are their largest support base. They realize that the pork-a-thon and the "Free Piglet!" campaign is as much in their interest as anyone's.
Were there really that many complaints Beth? or just a few? And how do we know they really were Jews and not just some trouble makers?
Anyway - Mrs. Lost Budgie thoroughly enjoyed studying all the recipes (She's a cooking fanatic.)
Mrs. Lost Budgie is also very Thai (she has only been in North America for a couple of years) and is a superb Thai chef... so I'll see if I can translate one of her dishes for the carnival of recipes.
Cheers!

Actually, that "Piss-Christ" work was not ultimately supported in any way by taxpayers, as was originally reported.
