Well, I've ended my foray into the underworld
Let's see - since Sunday, I posted 3 'diaries' on the Daily KOS, had one deleted with absolutely no communication to me as to why by some nutcase named Armando and had over 100 comments on the remaining posts that simply attacked me because I'm not them.
Some of the posts they made were a little frightening (good thing I'm a good shot) so I deleted the remaining two diaries.
Won't go back there for awhile. Those folks do not want to discuss anything, and if you try to discuss something, they attack you, and completely ignore everything you write.
For example, there are over 300 comments on a post that talks about the crosses being run over in Crawford County. I agree, that was an awful thing to do.
However, they are blaming everyone who voted for Bush for the vandalous acts of this one man. They have put his home phone number, address and business number on the comments, and though I think the guy is a jerk or a drunk, I don't think that his actions require thousands of kovovites calling him and his family and threatening them - which is what the commentors were proposing.
There is more. I copied all the comments and saved them. But those people are not quite sane. They are paranoid, delusional and probably a bit manic, too.
Thank God no one in my family is anywhere at moonbatty as those folks are. They must get off on calling people names, because they do it again and again and again. They are absolutely vile.
And they will never get what they want as long as they are that awful to others.

I'm sorry.
You are a good decent person, but it’s a mob mentality that reigns over there, best to stay away.
It’s a shame really; the only people who read Kos are of a mob mentality it seems. So even if he used to have something to say it doesn’t matter anymore.
I tried to read Kos, wanted a different point of view. Then I would read the comments and wince with disgust. Mob mentality, bullying, people wanting to tear things or ideas down but without reasoning behind it. I stopped reading him. It was just nasty.

Even worse?
1. Most of the dKos faithful are probably voters; and
2. Some of them may be planning to run for public office.

Yes I tried to make decent intelligent comments on a sit eabout Republicans hating America and the hate and vile responses were so bad I quit even trying.

I dearly liked the guy who jumped down your throat for supporting something corporate(a box of corp. crap or something was his deal). The lawyer guy who was checking the paper work was a decent enough fellow, but most weren't even dealing with the subject at hand(the guy who said he wanted gov't to pay for everything did, but was just kinda out there).
Three cheers Beth, but please, for your own sanity, don't do that again. Left2Right or Crookedtimber, by virtue of being leftist academic blogs, seem a bit better place to start(except there isn't the diary thing like at Kos). Just save your sanity Beth--don't invite the gutter snipes to come sniping is all I'm saying.

Armando deletes any post or comment that does not say it was a war for oil. That was your second mistake, Beth. Your first mistake is to assume the commenters at the Daily Kos give a rats ass about our soldiers.
Nonetheless, good attempt and it was worthwhile if nothing else because people saw the information and link. I applaud you for it.

Indeed. Trying to debate, converse with, educate, or learn from people on DU - as well as most other people on the Left today, it seems - is pointless.
It's a Left Brain vs Right Brain thing, IMHO. The truth is that we have fundamental differences in how we view the world, and how we communicate. We really are mirror images of each other.
Besides the fact that Bush Derangement Syndrome is in full force and the Left-Wing Kool-Aid has done its job.
