August 1st

John and I are having a contest. Each month, we will weigh ourselves on the first and the last day and whoever loses the most weight, gets $500 to do what he/I want to with it.

Heck, nothing else has worked much, and we are both pretty competitive - yes, even with each other!

I'll let you know the results the last day of the month!

UPDATE: This is what we'd like to look like again - at least as far as our weight! This was taken back in 1994 at Rocky Mountain National Park.

Heh. And the first comment 'round the office was, "Too much information, John!"

Whiners.

Um, oh, btw - the *numbers* will *not* be posted!

Why not?! Sheesh, take away all our fun...

What a cute couple!

Can that exceedingly handsome Harry Potter lookalike not conjure up some magic?

Posted by: Sally at August 1, 2005 5:42 PM

Let's see, Andy was about 9 or 10 when that picture was taken - he is now 20 (and even taller - 6'3")! And he still loves Harry Potter books -

Beth --You know that you have to win every month...or you will have even more guns and ammo to remove from your living room when you get back from trips! LOL

Argghhh! No! Revelatory pictures! Aaiiieeeeee!

Posted by: John of Argghhh! at August 1, 2005 6:06 PM

Heee. I made a note in the Argghhh! comments. Too late. You're annonymity be blown, John. Heeee.
Beth, you remind me of the 5th grade teacher I had a crush on, Ms. Zerm. Well, all us 10 year olds had a crush on her back then. Right combination of All American Girl and the red headed doctor(the one with the crutch) from ER.

Ry, the Hairy Eyeball® is measuring you for a casket right now.

Posted by: John of Argghhh! at August 1, 2005 8:43 PM

What for? Aiding in blowing your annonymity or having the cajones to admitt that I think your wife is cute?
(where's my rock? Need cover, lots of it!)

good luck! i'm interested to see if it works. it's a strategy for weight loss i've never run into yet.

Posted by: mlah at August 1, 2005 11:45 PM

MLAH - I think we have tried everything else possible :-)

Posted by: beth at August 2, 2005 11:13 AM

Good luck to both of you!

Wow, is that a real haircut I see on the right? My, how times have changed.

Cheers

Well, actually, John's hair is not a whole lot longer than it was on that day - he was Active Duty then, after all!

Good luck with the weight loss. You got suckered though. Men and women lose weight at different rates. Men are usually faster. Women also have that "monthly visitor" that is known to affect weight loss.

Better if you both sign up for Weight Watchers--and go to separate meetings! I just over a year my daughter has lost 50+, the wife has lost 25+ (she was a petite to start and is growing elfin!) and I have lost 40+ (without attending a meeting--just eating what they do). The son went into the Marines and dropped 25 at Paris Island. But he put 10 back on in Iraq! Go figure!

John was Active Duty? With that haircut?
Oh, yes, gunners: one must make concessions. Why we in the cavalry ever consented to recognise THEM, I shall never know.
And that T-shirt: snifff.

Cheers

JMH - you *do* know that John played football at Mizzou, don't you?

Posted by: Beth Donovan at August 4, 2005 8:53 AM

Ha, next you'll be telling me he wrestled as well.

That still does not excuse the T-shirt. I mean, it would cause a rather vulgar brawl.

Cheers

JMH!
You are Canadian, what the heck do you care about Missouri University?

And I'm sure you know that John was state champion wrestler in high school :)

1. Nothing .... (whistles, stares vacantly)
2. You mean they weren't rumours after all?

Cheers
