Poor John
I leave town for a week of seminars and meetings and poor John has to deal with Petey the Wonder Horse, version 2, who stepped on a nail. John pulled the nail from Petey's frog and has to bandage and cushion his foot and soak his foot several times a day.
If I was home, I could have taken a few days off to take care of our little Paint Horse. But I'm not, and the responsibility falls to my incredibly wonderful husband.
Thanks, handsome, for taking care of Petey!

Pete's obviously feeling better this morning. Not as gimpy.
We'll keep an eye on it. I told the inmates and Dean to call me if he gets even a little bit worse (fight now is infection, but since there wasn't any blood or pus last night, I think we'll do okay there), and he's not going out to the pasture (which he was taking pretty well, considering Willy wasn't next door).

ALERT - ALERT - LATIN GEEK ALERT!!!
Can't help myself... while learning Latin, I was taught this little onomatopoeic rhyme, courtesy of Virgil's Aenid:
QUADRUPEDANTE PUTREM SONITU QUATIT UNGULA CAMPUM.
When recited out loud, it sounds just as horse galloping through a field.
It roughly translates into:
Thus sounds the hoofs of a horse as it tramples through the ground.
