Kitty thief!

Last night we had rib eye steaks and baked potatoes for dinner. With Andy away at college, we have picked up the habit of eating while watching CSI (I'm completely hooked on that show) in the living room.

I looked down and my steak was gone. I asked John if he had already taken it to give to the dogs, and he had not. I thought I had lost my mind, because I knew I had not eaten most of the steak, and it was gone.

So I got up off the couch and carried my dishes to the kitchen, and on my way, I saw the culprit - Annie, our tiny little kitty, had managed to sneak away with a steak almost as big as she was.

We must have been really into CSI because neither of us noticed Annie jumping on the end table, grabbing the steak, and running off with it!

That reminds me of the time my cat got into food we'd left on the counter! We had made haystacks (like tacos, but on a pile of crunched up corn chips) with ground beef, and had not cooked all of the meat. We (stupidly) left it on the counter, while we sat in front of the TV watching who-knows-what.
10 minutes later, in walks the cat, who proceeds to sit next to the couch and lick his chops over and over. We looked at each other and said "Oh Sh*t!", and ran to the kitchen. Sure enough, the little furball had consumed about 1/3 of the pound of lean ground beef!!!!
As he is an indoor only kitty, tossing him out for the night was NOT an option. Let's just say cleaning up the mess later was a pain - but his tummy couldn't contain what he enjoyed eating!
We learned - haven't done anything that stupid in a LONG time :-)

Not too long ago I was enjoying an adult beverage (Mich Ultra) while reading blogs on my laptop. Then I heard this strange lick-lick-lick sound. Looked up, and there was Claire licking the beer right out of my bottle! A thief AND a drunk!

Now you see why I have her paired up with Houdini, Beth.

Huh. I remember the time our cat got into the groceries— and ate the donuts instead of the ground beef. Weird cat.

Ha! Cute mental image!

Annie also loves Romaine Lettuce. We cannot leave a salad bowl uncovered, or she will steal the lettuce and run off with it.

My sister had a big german shepherd mix dog. Once she was going to bake something that included eggs. So, she took out 2 eggs, put them near the back of the kitchen counter (so they wouldn't accidentally roll off) and then had to dash in the other room to answer the phone. When she returned - both eggs were completely gone - no bits of shell... nothing. And there was the dog, looking oh so innocent. He had eaten both eggs in their entirety! She said that for the next couple of days - there was eggshell evidence coming out the other end and he had a nice shiny coat for a few weeks. LOL.

Oh, Teresa - he ate two eggs w/ shell? That is impressive. I think dogs will eat anything.

Dogs will eat anything: my roommate's son brought his Dalmatian pup with him when he came over to watch NFL playoffs. I noticed the dog was crunching on something odd looking. When I looked closely it was a piece of kitty poo with litter batter from the cat's litter box. All together now: ewww.

In one evening, my dog ate; a pound of bacon, two pounds of cheese, a large tin of mixed nuts, three cups of uncooked rice, two cups of milk, a green pepper, a spanish onion, and part of a feather pillow. She is NOT an inside dog for the most part, so she was sick outside. With most of my ingredients gone, we ate out....
