Aborted Babie's Ashes Buried!
Church Plans to Bury the Ashes of Fetuses From Abortion Clinic
BOULDER, Colo. — A Catholic church plans to bury the ashes of as many as 1,000 aborted fetuses Sunday, raising a storm of protest from those who accuse it of exploiting the pain and grief of women for political purposes.
Anyone who thinks that Catholics are burying babies for political purposes has absolutely no understanding of the Catholic Church. These remains deserve a respectful burial. The Church doesn't even know who the mothers are, so how could they be upset - if those mothers feel guilty, well, they should - they decided to end the life of their babies.

I'm with ya on this one, babe - even if you did make a snarky mother-in-law joke over in the Arsenal!
Of course, the rabid, abortion-at-any-cost people can't allow the results of abortions to be treated as if they were actual human beings... that would upset the applecart and throw a wrench in the 'kill 'em until the cord is cut" (or later, if you're Peter Singer) crowd.

Beth - I'm not even Catholic (although I did survive a Catholic college!) - and this just makes sense to me as well. Makes you wonder how one of these schmucks would behave if a friend of theirs had a miscarriage, heaven forbid. Would they even know how to comfort them in their loss??? I'm thinkin' not!

You have got to wonder about the timing of the mass what with the anniversary of Roe Vs Wade, and the current debate about the conservatives on the bench of the Supreme Court and potential openings. I also believe that the leak to the press was planned - orchestrated for full effect.
This is my church for more than 20 years. And yes - it's fitting that these remains are buried and that a mass is said.
That said - I have some disagreements with this weekend’s press frenzy – NOT about the mass, but why it was leaked to the press in the first place and why the Church then invited the media to watch a very private thing. This was not a state burial. The rights of the survivors and the dead were not considered in the decision, and the real purpose of the mass was put on the docket for the entertainment and shock value to the press.
Sacred Heart of Mary church has been burying remains and having services for several years. Why is it now fodder or a badge to hold up to the public eye? Deliberate - I think so. Timing is aferall everything.
You may not know this: In the aftermath of the national coverage certain parish voices have lamented to the media that NOW they may not be able to get remains for their services NEXT year. And then the local media report that 2 clinics in Denver would be happy to Donate Remains to ensure the practice of entombing and praying over these potential lives can continue.
So don't you also wonder? Does this sound like this service was truly about the mass and the prayers for the living and unborn? Or was it hijacked and orchestrated so that the whole resulting debacle became a self-aggrandizement anti abortion advertizement for the church? I live here. It reeked of politics from both sides of the board.
What I found missing was that the coverage on abortion that was included along with what the Church was doing seemed to focus on the right of the unborn almost to the exclusion and vilification of the rights of the mother, and to absolutely no consequences of the father. It takes 2. Highschool biology was pretty explicit. To create a human life requires a sperm and an egg.
Is it not curious how almost every man who will freely admit he was sexually active prior to marrying their spouse – also so easily brushes off any responsibility of knowledge for a life inadvertently created and abandoned - knowingly or not. Boys will be boys is not an acceptable standard, but one that we as a society and our faiths perpetuate.
In my heart, I cannot blame a woman who makes a choice I would not want to have to make. To be an unwed mother in our world is to carry 2 crosses - being pregnent outside of wedlock, and in bearing the fruit of that out of wedlock association and be a single mom. I would wish her a medically proficient and safe procedure because in case the rest of the world hasn't yet noticed - there is not a long line of folks willing to take up the crosses she bears.
I also prefer my prayers for the peace of the unborn and for the women who had to make such choices to be something not for sale or can be spent for whatever political capitol. I saw a private, heartrending service get exploited into a media circus by the people on the inside. I feel exploited both by my parish, and the faith that condoned it. And I have to wonder why they made that choice.
Peace.

Just think, up to 1.7 million unintended pregnancies and 800,000 abortions a year could be prevented if the FDA would give over-the-counter access to Emergency Contraception. They prevent pregnancy if taken within 120 hours and will not disturb an existing pregnancy.
Abortion is to good of a political tool for the Bush people. They can't afford to do away with it.

People wouldn't have sex outside of marriage.
