Keep those Kitty Names Coming
Nothing quite fits the kitty yet. Target would be cute, except that he was a target (that bb the vet dug out) and that makes the name seem somehow - wrong.
The new cat slept on our headboard last night (we have a bookcase headboard, he was not balanced on one inch of wood), and the other cats are being a little nicer. Except for RestStop. He growls every time he sees or hears or smells the new cat. Even at 3:00 am. Yes, I'm tired and very grumpy!
So, more names, please - I have no imagination left - and to Pete with 12 cats and 4 dogs and 1 bird - gee, you are crazier than we are!

I like Chester.
That's the first thing I thought of when I saw the picture.
He is very cute. ;-)

Bookworm?

Cricket because he chirps.

Don't like Target? How about Bulletproof. A declawed cat, who is dumped outside and subsequently shot by some A-hole with a pellet gun ends up in good home. Maybe Serendipity would be a better choice.

Hmmm, the Physics Geek inspires... Kevlar?
Aramid?

Bizarre. I thought I'd commented on the last post, but it's not there...
I'm suggesting Gummitch, after the Fritz Leiber story "Spacetime For Springers." Ours was very sweet.
Or you could always go with Pippin, to continue the LOTR theme. If he were grey, I'd suggest Fafherd, 'cause he is a mouser.

"Dave", or "Steve". Unless you get him neutered. In which case, "Elton" might suit.

Oh, I kinda like Pippin. Meriwether's nickname is Meri, and we do have Gandalf (he was named that way back in 1996, pre-movie, by the way).
Pippin might be good. I'll check with John.

Wow, how weird. My kitty has a wandering ball, too. (a bb) it was in his shoulder, moved around up under his chin. Wish he had his own balls, but previous humans were bad abt. that.
Names:
Uh, Police names? one of my kitty's names is Dzerzhinsky, because he does such mean nasty police work on the rats. Or J. Edgar Hoover, or Bobby (Peel).
Or name him after a General. Kitties are very self-important. I had a real sweety of a tomcat who actually answered to "MacArthur."
One of my kittie's other names is "Dexron" because he spends a lot of time under cars, getting transmission fluid on him. Hey, it could be worse! He could be hiding under old Fords, and get
ATF
all over him! Eeyouw! Gross!
One of his other names is "Peaches" because of his demeanor and appearance.
His official name,on the vet's books, is Uziel, because he is so angelic, and because he purrs so loudly you might mistake him for a machine gun, and
because I can walk into the vet's office with my kitty in my arms and say,
"Nobody move! I've got an Uzi!"

hmm... well, i'm a big Harry Potter fan. don't know if you are too. i named Minerva after Professor Minerva McGonagall...
Crookshanks (hermione's cat)? Albus (Dumbledore)? Hagrid? Neville Longbottom?
ooh! ooh! he has red hair, just like a Weasley! the Weasleys are Ron, George, Fred, Percy (no), Ginny (but he's not a girl), Charlie, Bill, and the parents... Molly and Arthur.
or, um, Harry.

I like Cricket or Chirpy. He doesn't look much like a Pippin to me, although I suppose he could be a Pip....

BB King!
Honor him as a survivor.

I kinda like Beebee, unless you think that's too tragic or something.

August - he is cat number 8 - we could call him Augie, in your honor, since August is the 8th month.

Umm, actually, John, it was like a, uh, overdose. All true, though.

With the "bullseye pattern" in his markings, the name "Hal" jumps to mind. In reference to the classic joke/toon by Gary Larson, "Bummer of a birthmark, Hal".
