I know exactly what you're talking about. I'm sure there must be a special place in hell reserved for comment spammers. I've added all of them to the mt blacklist at my site. I even added the name "bob" even though I risked accidentally deleting legitimate Bobs by doing so.
I wish there was something more that could be done.
