Dog Farts

Around 2:00 am this morning, I was awakened by Shadow (our really big dog) crawling onto the waterbed. Soon, Houdini (our really little dog) and Little Girl (the queen of all the Donovan cats) jumped into bed with him.

Hmmm. There must be a thunderstorm on the way. Yup. Pretty soon, huge crashes of thunder shook the house and Shadow (our really big dog) shivered with fear and crept closer to me.

Houdini also snuggled as close to me as he could, and I soon realized that with every flash of lightening, Houdini farted.

His farts really smelled awful.

I had to get out of bed and spray lysol through the bedroom because of these stinky dog farts.

Unfortunately, the storm lasted about an hour - lightning flash - little pffft of fart from Houdini's hind end.

Finally the lightning and Houdini quit flashing and pfffting and I went back to sleep.

And I thank God that Shadow (our really, really big dog) does not fart with fear.

Count your blessings. I remember one time when Qila, our male Samoyed, jumped up on the waterbed during a thunderstorm, stood over me, and emptied the entire contents of his stomach onto me.

It sounds like you had a dog that was scared enough to crap his pants, figuratively, of course, as dogs don't wear pants, and you should be very greatful that it was not full of it. ;)

Now, on the other hand, however, I have personally sniffed a dog fart or two in my day, and have never found one that was not jes' utterly nauseatin' and caused me to gag for several minutes as I was prayin' for death. As such, I can feel your pain.

We had one cat, the Pudgy Poojer, who used to emit SBDs which could impress Beavis and Butthead. An occasional spoonful of yogurt over the course of a couple of weeks cleared up the problem.

Oh, Beth. Thanks for the chuckle. That's great story, although sorry you had to suffer so we could laugh.

I, too, can feel your pain. We had a cat who could rival any pet in the stinky gas contest.

For truly knock-your-socks-off, eye-watering, gut-wrenching, just-shoot-me-now canine crepitation, nothing beats a Pit Bull/Border Collie mix, especially about an hour after he ate that dead squirrel I thought I'd buried deep enough... XP
