Wanna be Royalty?

Teresa Heinz Kerry says, ".. let them go naked."

Marie Antoinette said, "let them eat cake."

I think that I would prefer to have Marie Antoinette as my 'first lady' over Teresa - who would have the rabble undressed.

bitch.

well, my dear, i feel an uncharacterist urge to defend a dimocrat. wait, no, it's just gas.
i like tahreza, she amuses me, and you just know that she has so much money she could give a hoot less about what you think of her. she is the perfect loose cannon, so essential for comic relief.
but in this instance, i actually agree with her. the whole quote goes on to say "what they really need is water". and that's true. save the rush to send clothes, they need water a whole lot more than a new pair of levi pants.
damn, i can't believe i typed that.

I really dislike Teresa - I don't think she is comical, I think she wants to be queen.

Look at the situation - she was watching a bunch of people doing what they can to help people - and clothing is very important to protect one from the elements. And it gives people dignity.

If she was to become the first lady, I swear, I will not turn on the tv or radio for 4 years because I can't stand the idea of possibly listening to her extremely annoying voice.

Even more so since "let them eat cake" came from a story Jean-Jacques Rousseau wrote about an unnamed princess. Later people assumed he meant Marie Antoinette but she was still a child living in Austria when he wrote the story.

But, hey, even if the source was fake, the substance was accurate, right?

As for Heinz-Kerry, talk is cheap. If she's truly concerned that the necessary supplies won't get there one would think she could do something more substantive than tell the volunteers they weren't prioritizing things correctly.

I wonder how many boxes of supplies could fit on her Gulfstream V?

Teresa makes me ill. She just wants her dress in the Smithsonian and to live in the greatest house she isn't able to buy.

As I said over at John's, children do not like to go naked, not over age 3, in public. You push on to 4 or 5, you're doing damage. To make it worse thre are bad people who prey on small children and they just don't go away because of of a hurricane. As a matter of fact, knowing there were naked children would bring them out more.

Teresa is an idiot totally out of touch and needs to think before she speaks.

y'all make valid points, and i think she's the perfect morticia to her lurch, but if i was talking about SURVIVAL, i'd rather have water than clothes, especially if clothes took up space that could have been water.
further, regarding the gulfstream comment, no kidding. one of the things that always kills me is the "rich and famous" acting as shills for various charities, and all they need to do is sit down and write a check that probably wouldn't impact their lives that would double any and all monies gathered through their spokesmanship. most of them are talking out their asses, and dollar for dollar, percentage of gross wealth, i bet i could point to half a dozen people within 50 feet of me that give a higher percentage of their wealth to charity.

Sorry, but naked children are apt to be chewed up my mosquitos and risk getting diseases from them.
Aside from the fact that all kinds of molesters will show up with water for naked kids ...
Dignity means clothes - that is a very important thing for people who have lost everything!!
