Food and Wine
Professor Bainbridge has started a new blog on wine - it looks like a good place to read some wine reviews.
Professor Bainbridge on Wine
I will be honest here. I love wine, but my pocketbook does not allow me to buy many of the wines that Prof. Bainbridge talks about - his idea of cheap wine is under $18 a bottle. My idea of cheap wine is under $10 a bottle!

I saw his new blog. I'll have to send him the names of some fine wines from Washington state that need the good press. Unfortunately, I can't find most of the wines he discusses here in France.
Fortunately, I can find wonderful wine for less than $10 here...
Oops... I guess I shouldn't mention that!

I'm with you. I drink wine almost every night when I get home and start cooking. Additionally, I cook with wine quite a bit. The average bottle of wine I drink costs around $9, I think. That includes bottles from Chile that go for around $6, and bottles from California, France, and Italy that run closer to $15.
The key is to find a good wine store, and get to know the folks who run it. I'm lucky; in New Orleans, there are several very good places to buy wine. My current favorite is a small shop run by a couple of guys my age (30-ish) who stock a wide range of quality and eclectic wines.
