Sharia law in employment with Muslim Firms?
A Muslim corporation has fired a woman for eating 'unclean' meat.
Yup, this happened in Florida - and the woman, a Roman Catholic, was fired by her Muslim bosses because she had a pizza on one occasion and a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich on another occassion.
The company, Rising Star, is a telecommunications company, which means it is highly regulated by the federal and state government.
They did not make the woman sign anything saying she agreed not to eat pork, but even if they had, I believe it would be going way too far.
Muslims cannot demand that Christians follow the same religious dietary laws that they follow.
Can you imagine if a Catholic-owned business fired people during Lent for eating meat other than fish on Friday?
Same thing. Hope the woman wins her lawsuit and wins it quickly.

Whoa!! ...and where is the ACLU when you REALLY need them? Probably out hunting down kneeling Boy Scouts in case the little fellers decide to pray...! :/

I wouldn't be surprised if the ACLU wasn't all over this. As obnoxious as they can be, they do follow their principles pretty well.
Beth, you're right, this is just as wrong as if employees of a Catholic owned company were fired for eating meat on Friday during Lent, or any of other innumerable examples. I think the right thing will be done eventually, what saddens me is that it will take court cases to make the right thing happen.

Actually, the ACLU hasn't gotten involved. Michael Savage mentioned this story on the air today. It was the first time I heard about it, then I saw your post. I was incensed. What pisses me off the most is that the ACLU will come right out after a terrorist attack and tell Americans to not committ hate crimes against muslims, yet they don't lift a finger when a catholic gets fired for breaking an islamic religious rule. This is a SUPREME violation of Equal Opportunity in the workplace, and I hope "Rising Star" gets nailed for it.
And don't get me started on Islam now, either...
