Obviously, Kerry is running scared
The DNC's lawyers are writing threatening letters to stations airing the Swift Boat Veterans' Ad.
As NRO points out, the letter itself is hedging the truth - it claims that the speakers in the ad did not serve 'under' Kerry - but the ad clearly states, they served *with* him - these were his peers - but then, perhaps a rich kid from Boston with Presidential aspirations from Day 1 doesn't believe he has any peers.
And ... isn't it to be expected that two attorneys would go for threatening lawsuits as their first defensive action? I wonder if it is John Edward's old firm sending out the threats, or just George Soros's legal goons?
John Kerry deserves this. He is the one who 'saluted' and said that 'help is on the way' during his acceptence speech. He is the one who has to keep reminding us that he served in Vietnam. What he doesn't keep reminding us is that he only served in Vietnam for 4 months - and was such a klutz and was so stupid (or purposely careless) as to be 'wounded' 3 times in 4 months.
My father-in-law was wounded 5 times in Vietnam. He did not use his 3rd Vietnam Purple Heart as an excuse to go back home.
But then, my father-in-law is a man.
My father-in-law is a true patriot.
What bothers me the most about John Kerry, though, are his actions after he got his early out from the Navy.
What does he have to say to American prisoners of war who were taunted with transcripts of John Kerry's 'testimony' before Congress?
I have not heard an apology.
I have not even heard an acknoweldgement that he betrayed American troops.
The man is an arrogant bastard. Even those who served with him say he was an arrogant, haughty man.
A leader does not lead by arrogance and by belief that he is better than the rest of us.
It is the day-to-day actions of a man or woman that defines if they are leaders or not.
Kerry is not a leader.
It is a shame that he is the best the Democrats can do.
By the way, if you want to donate to keep these ads on the air, click here.
Joe Lieberman would have been a much more honorable candidate.

It's frustrating isn't it...that so many refuse to see it??
I think you could you could run a red-eyed, bull-horned demon against Bush and many would be unmoved.

Yeah, Key, it is really frustrating. Of course, a lot of the leftist types hate anything about the military anyway, so it's okay with them if Kerry was a turncoat - they probably cringe when he pretends to be proud of his military career.

Or his fourth, or his fifth. And two of them (unlike any of Kerry's) required hospitalization.
But Dad was an officer true to his oath, which I do not believe John Kerry was.

What kind of person attacks the military record of a man who volunteered to serve his country in Vietnam and was wounded in battle? You people really take the cake. Kerry served. Bush pulled strings to avoid it. All you accomplish with scurrilous attacks on Kerry's military service is to keep reminding people about this fundamental difference in their personal character.

As one who served who is married to one who served, all I can say is that the way one serves is very important - especially if you are an officer.
John Kerry was an awful officer. He lied, lied, lied about Vietnam when he got off early.
He caused our POW's an enormous amount of harm.
John Kerry did not volunteer for combat - he thought he was escaping it, and has admitted that in the past.
Bush served also- there is no shame in serving in the Guard and Reserve.
Both of them got out earlier than their original contracts.
But Kerry is the one using his so-called service to the country in Vietman as his main experience in leadership.
He did not lead then.
He does not lead now.
Hopefully, he will never have the opportunity to lead.

Mr. Stevens,
I'm that kind of person. With 24 years of service as a combat arms soldier and a 70% disability under my belt, will that suffice? Or am I insufficiently authentic because my politics and opinion of Senator Kerry don't match yours? Or my father, a 5 Purple Heart/Distinguished Flying Cross (equivalent to the Silver Star) veteran of Vietnam, also shares my opinion?
I discuss my view of Bush's Guard time here, and here and Senator Kerry, here. (and down in the comments I have some more thoughts on Bush's Guard time.)
And no, I don't think I'm holding him to an impossibly high standard. I'm holding him to the standard that the comissioning oath (which still binds me as a retired regular) holds all of us. Your willingness to cut him slack on that and my unwillingness to do so is probably one of *the* defining differences between us politically, since I'm not as right-wing as you might think.

kerry s statements in the past made many of the veterans feel dreadfully ill.
