The Blog-Room isn't ready yet...
...not for viewing, anyway - but here is a picture of Beth's view while she blogs!
Click the pic for the hi-res version!

Very nice. You should get a wireless setup and sit outside on days it's not too hot and blog from the middle of that vista.
Of course, then you couldn't blog nekkid, unless you have a really good privacy fence...

We do have wireless, and the elevated deck in back is also awash in greenery, and there is a privacy fence...
This picture is of the pond and waterfall in the front yard, which is on one of the major arteries in Leavenworth... and, well, we're pretty laid back here, but yer right - not that laid back! But Beth can take her laptop out to the bench in front and listen to the falling waters, watch the fish, and be a proud grandparent as this years tadpole population matures into leggy amphibians.

This is why we don't live in suburbia. John built me this pond several years ago in the front yard - most home owners associations frown on that kind of non-conformity.
I have planted a lot of pond plants in the pond and bog plants around it and we have some fishies that live in it.
We need to plant a hedge of holly or something between the sidewalk and the pond - now, the road noise is kinda loud because there is nothing blocking it.
We get a lot of toads and frogs and tadpoles and such, and the chipmunks and squirrels and birds really like being able to bathe in the pond - in the waterfall part mostly.
Ideally, I'd like to naturalize as much as the yard as possible, thereby eliminating the need for mowing and weed killers.
We don't use pesticides because they kill amphibians, and we like our toads and itty bitty frogs.
