I'm tossing out my old Smith's CD's

And if I could demand my money back, I would. From now on, anytime I hear this man on the radio, I'm turning it off.
'Bush should have died, not Reagan': Morrissey

music legend Morrissey sparked controversy when he announced Ronald Reagan's death live on stage during a concert - and then declared he wished it was George Bush who had died instead.

Thousands of fans at Dublin Castle, in Ireland, cheered when the ex-Smiths frontman made the announcement that the former American president, who had battled with Alzheimer's Disease, had passed away.

And an even bigger cheer followed when Morrissey - who is no stranger to controversy - then said he wished it had been the current President, George W Bush, who had died.

And I hope he never enters the USA again.

It is indeed time to toss them out - - I'll be tossing mine into the big box of items I have in the garage of all those I've boycotted for ignorance. Thanks for sharing this info

If someone knows who this man(thing?) plays for now, I would appreciate that information. I'm not sure what I'll do with it, but I'll think of something.

He sings by himself now, and does have his own cds out, but I have never bought any of those.

I'm adding my Bette Middler stuff in with the rest of the garbage - including Smiths CD's. Last night on Leno, she said that she's going to become active in politics now to make sure the "...we elect a president instead of having one assigned to us."

Maybe she's always been a leftie, but this is the first I've heard of it. So long Bette ... you are the crap beneath my feet.

Oh, I'm sorry to hear that about Bette Midler, I love her singing. But, I've about had it with the acting/singing hot shots of Hollywood pretending that they know whats best for the rest of us.

It was just a comment, why all the fuss? You must understand that half the reason people like Morrissey is he is NOT politically correct. Take it for what it is worth the man is a great singer but doesn't always think about how other people may take his statements.

Jay,
Well, perhaps if enough people quit buying his stuff, maybe he will be a bit more thoughtful before saying stupid shit like that.

That remark makes Natalie Maines' "apology" sound pretty good by comparison.

Jay - while your point is well taken, if the guy is going to use the platform my money helps provide him to do things I find reprehensible, I get to deny him my piddling little 0.00000000000000010001% of his income.

And (no, you did'nt claim this, I'm just using the soapbox while I have it) that isn't censorship or discrimination (other than taste).

I marvel at people who stand there with a straight face and tell me almost that I am *obligated* to support their contrarian views or I am a bigot/censor/oppressor, but see nothing wrong with campus speech codes, etc.

I still don't understand why their heads don't explode (which would tickle me greatly).
