Tonight's Moment of Kitty Zen

This is Orphan Annie - in the Meatloaf Position (all legs tucked under her body)

Annie is a survivor. She was dumped at the Ft. Leavenworth stable as a very young kitten. When some kids found her, her tail had been mostly bitten off, and bones were exposed. They saw me, and said, "Please, Mrs. Donovan, will you take this kitten home with you? We know you will take care of her, and our mom won't let us have a kitten". So I did, and I took her to see Dr. Nicki, our small animal veterinarian, and she did what she could for the bloody tail stump, and Annie became part of our family.

Later we discovered that she was a little older than we thought because she was so incredibly malnourished that she was very stunted in size. She is still not much bigger than a 4 month old kitten.

John likes to say that Annie is a little 'touched in the head'. Well, she is different, but she can be incredibly loving. She will sit on John's shoulder and groom his hair for an hour at a time while he is blogging.

Annie often jumps up in bed with us to tell us good night, and give us a nice kneading and head butt while she gets a good back rub.

Annie is touched, in the way that some people are touched by God.

She is adorable!

The "meatloaf" reference suggests a familiarity with cat cartoonist B. Kliban. Do you also have a dreaded ham-wort?

We had several "Annie"s while I was growing up (named the same, too!) Your babies have such pretty faces! Hugs to all the kitties and you, too.

Thanks, Emma. I so appreciate another cat lover!

Well, I'm thinking that maybe RestStop or Little Girl may qualify as HamWorts, but only Little Girl is dreaded. I'll put her picture up tomorrow.

I have her up today, for unrelated purposes. She's guest-blogging.

Here's payback to Trit for yesterdays 'ear-bug'...

"Love to eat them Mousies
Mousies what I love to eat!
Bite they little heads off,
Nibble on they tiny feet!"

"She will sit on John's shoulder and groom his hair for an hour at a time while he is blogging."

OMG... You don't know what these kinds of descriptive sentences do to people who don't know your hubby... First he's nekkid while blogging... then the other day he claimed an overly large cranium... now there's a little orange kitty perched atop his head like the sail on a sub... ROFL...

Sorry, I'm just being silly... She looks like a sweetheart.

Well, actually, Pam, you are not too far off in your description!

My cat like to do the head-butt thing to... what's with that?

Believe it or not, Willie - it's a love thing.
