Richmond, Virginia

I'm in Richmond this week. I flew to Norfolk yesterday and drove up here. Unfortunately, it has been raining heavily since I got here, so I have not been able to see much of the area.

The building I am working in is right next door to the home where Robert E. Lee retired to after Appomattox, but that is about the only historical site I've seen because of the nasty weather.

I'm the only mid-westerner from my company working at this site, and all the Easterners were giving me shit about being from Kansas.

Especially about mid-westerners 'fetish' over guns.

And I didn't even tell them about our guns!

Though all the guys are great to work with, they have a definite attitude of superiority over those of us who live in the middle of the country. I'm only here a week, and I don't think it is worth arguing with them about it, at least until they really bug me!!!

Isn't putting down others how insecure folks try to feel better about themselves?

Seems to me the Midwesterners are the most secure subculture in the US because they don't spend a lot of time proclaiming how great they are, nor do they put others down. They just get on with life.

But that's just a Southerner's view...

Well, when they finally annoy you enough, dear, show them what a fetish really is!

Hosers.

Lemme at 'em! Lemme at 'em! (Channeling the Lion here).

And they don't have to even be born on the eastern coast to have this attitude. Hubby's family (all from Michigan) lives on the east coast now and they all have that attitude.

And they always seem to call only when we have a huge snowstorm.

I seem to remember the Sherman's Midwesterners in his Army of the West marched through the Confederate heartland, defeated all the armies still in the South and spanked all those fine Eastern gentlemen and sent them home crying for their mommies.I'm a transplanted Midwestern Army brat, living in the Norfolk area and I take no prisoners. William T. Sherman for President.
