I took the day off work today

So, what do I do with it? Blog.

Well, I need to do a bunch of gardening - my garden pond's plants were delivered and they need to get in the water quickly.

I'll try to get some pictures of that, too!

Ummm - yeah - isn't that what you're SUPPOSED TO do? Or are you trying to tell me that there is life away from the computer screen? I don't know if I believe that...

what plants did you get? We need pictures! I just added minature water lilies to my patio water pot. I got cheap and bought the bare bulbs online...now I'm waiting and waiting and waiting for the leaves to break the surface...they're down there...growing in the alluvial murk...waving in the pump current like pale green aliens.

The blooms better be damned gorgeous or they're compost!

Feste, It rained on Friday so I didn't get any pictures of my pond plants.

I have had mixed success with water lilies. I have bought several and only one has ever bloomed. The fishies like to snack on them.

I do have Irises that are planted in the pond that come back every year, as well as horsetail grass and some reeds.

I like to have some floating plants to shade the fishies, so I order about 10 water hyacynths every spring - they have pretty blooms and grow like crazy, but they are not able to survive frost.

They are actually considered weeds in many southern states, because they can clog up a pond pretty quickly.
