Gardening

About 3 weeks ago, I bought a strawberry pot and planted little strawberry plants in all the openings. I had my doubts about anything growing in it.

This morning, I went outside to check on my herbs and tomatoes and happened to notice a whole bunch of baby strawberries growing!

When I get home from work tonight, I'll take a picture of my strawberry pot and post it.

I have been messing with small garden plots for a couple of years, mostly herbs and tomatoes. This year I went all out and set up an 8'x12' plot and am attempting to grow corn, several varieties of tomatoes, peppers, peas, green onions, carrots, lettuce as well as herbs. I planted from seed about 3 weeks ago. I was going to do strawberries too but forgot them at the last minute at the garden store. I can't wait to see how it turns out. Already something has happened to my cherry tomatoes...not sure what exactly but I suspect I burned the seedlings with Miracle Grow.

Biggest problem so far is keeping the big fat beagle out of it. :p

One year I grew green beans in a pot. It was really great, generally I turn most plants brown before the end of the summer.

I'm growing a star cactus in my strawberry pot; it's great because of all the openings... :)

I keep thinking I'll have a small garden, but can't seem to unglue my behind from this seat... ;)

And I'm not helping, am I, Pamster?

Oh, your stuff is so far down on the list by now... ;)

Oh no!

Pam, I can't say I have an official 'garden' - I have a conglomeration of pots with lots of plants. The only thing that keeps them from dying is the very neat little irrigation system that John built for me. Otherwise, I'd forget them and they would all be dead.

So excited about my garden this year I thought I'd post a pic. I know, small things for small minds and all. Sorry I don't know how to resize it to make it smaller. *blush* The perspective is weird in the photo, its 12 feet high in the pic by 8 foot wide.

Lower left corner is corn, just above that is zuchini and cucumbers and towards the middle is 2 rows of carrots. Upper left corner is peppers of several varieties and my big fat beagle (Sassy). Dead center are 2 vertical rows of lettuce, upper right is the herb area, just below the herbs you can see 3 vertical rows of green onions. Middle right is peas, lower right corner is several varieties of tomatoes. The seedling tomotoes I was thinking I may have burned are just above the 3 larger tomato plants in the lower right corner, they're kinda hard top see. They look better now though I think they may live. =p

The A/C guy was here you can see his tools on the A/C. He fixed it. Yes, the grass needs to be mowed.
