Office Space
After spending 12 hours in a cubicle, I got back to the hotel and turned on TV and found that Office Space was showing. Today, I feel like becoming Peter, if you know what I mean.
I do have a question, though - what the hell does TPS stand for? Toilet Paper Standard? Is that what those reports were about?
Or Time Productivity stats? Or The Peter Sins? Or Terrible People Stink?!
I'm sure there is meaning to the evil TPS Reports, I just don't know what the meaning is!

What, didn't you get the memo?
John of Argghhh! misses the obvious one, that of "Technical Product Specification," which seems to be heavily used by Intel and thus was probably used by Initech (before it burned down) and Penetrode, er, Initrode.
I'm not sure why Peter Gibbons would need to produce Technical Product Specification reports as a programmer, but surely Tom Smykowski would have given that he dealt with the god damn customers (before his accident).
Fuckin' A.

Ahem. Technically, John of Argghhh! missed nothing. Contributors to Acronym Finder missed it. All I did was copy and paste!

You all missed the point ;-) Nobody knows what "TPS" stands for. It's just like a real office where people mindlessly throw around meaningless acronyms.

Oh I like Owen's answer, now let's burn down the building, hop a plane and find a nice island. We can sit on the beach drinking 'ritas. Sounds like a plan.

But Teresa, I *still* won't have my red stapler!
Posted by: John of Argghhh! at February 28, 2004 6:46 AM
John, you can buy one now on the internet!!! Yes, swingline finally figured out that they were missing out by not making them. Others were painting staplers and selling them on ebay.
So, we'll order the stapler, have it overnighted to the island, and it will be waiting for us when we get off the plane. *G*

I think that Owen is wrong; why would Mike Judge choose the one acronym that Intel uses? He seems like a pretty sharp guy to me. Otherwise, why not ABC or XYZ reports or something less relatable to the high-tech world?
