Just Another Manic Monday
This is the first chance I have had all day to even glance at the Internet. After 2 weeks of work a couple of days, take off a couple of days, the business world has returned in full force.
Here is my tentative travel schedule (that I discovered today!)
Next week - Los Angeles
week after - Reno
Week after - maybe Springfield, Mass.
Week after that - probably get to be home, but might fly to Bangor, Maine for 3 days.
Week after that, Columbia, SC.
Week after that, Columbia, SC.
Week after that, Columbia, SC.
Week after that, Columbia, SC.
Week after that, Columbia, SC.
Week after that, Columbia, SC. (this is only if everything else is not finished.)
Week after that - committed to nut house.
Fortunately, the company I work for lets us fly home every weekend, or they will fly one's spouse to you for a weekend if you choose to stay where you are.
Maybe I'll fly Delta enough to get to be a Medallion member - then I can get free upgrades to First Class.
There are some bad things about travelling. Number 1 is that I really miss John a lot - it takes me one or two nights to be able to sleep every week when I'm travelling because I miss him so much!
Number 2 - I miss the cats and dogs and the horses (who have been terribly neglected by me of late - John does everything for them!)
Number 3 - Evenings are really boring, so I tend to eat too much food and go to sleep too early - bad for diet.
Number 4 - laundry becomes the only priority on weekends when I'm home.
I really do like to travel, because I love what I do - I feel like I make a difference for our company and for our clients. I love the techie stuff, and I really love working with the techie people I work with.
And I really and truly love the pay.
I have been trying to decide if it makes sense for me to try to bring parts of some of my stained glass projects with me when I travel. I could spend those evenings foiling the glass that I have cut here at home - but I do have a bit of fear about packing my glass pieces and copper foil in my suitcase - will the TSA have a heart attach when they see it, if they don't know what it is?
I don't know. One of my co-workers suggested I take up knitting, but I fear my hands will hurt even more if I try that. Naturally, I read a lot of books, but I feel a little more productive if I am actually making something!

Oh, no. You'll be gone again?
Unless you can blog from the road we'll have to revolt... Do you think you could see my picket sign from L.A.? ;)

I'm getting smarter - now I check to see if the hotels have broadband access before I make reservations.
I'll be out of luck in Bangor - client makes me stay in a kinda odd place, no broadband and really loud radiators that clang all night long - but I should have broadband everywhere else, and I will be home every weekend!

I used to travel masses, too-I loved it, it made the job seem real to me, but after a while you begin to add up the minutes that you spend flying and wonder what you're doing with your life.
Take care of you, while you are travelling so much. Oh, and I am with Pam-we need to hear from you periodically, too! :)

And how come I find out the details of the schedule from yer blog, eh? Eh? EH?
Harumph.
Paaaarrtttyyyy!
Can ya at least come home a little earlier than 11:30 PM? Pretty please?

I did tell you! You were busy.

Wow!!! I love my job too, but I work at home and never travel! As a matter of fact, I make it a point to leave the house about noon every day for at least an hour, cause I HAVE to get out. A modified version of your schedule sounds like it might be fun - LOL. But I have the same problem you do - sleeping the first couple nights away from my husband. Funny isn't how you get used to having them around...

Good Lord! how do you handle all of that? between your painting, blogging, buying new socks.. :):):):) Honestly, you are wonderwoman.. All I have are the old under-roos.. :P

Hardly! Your job is a lot harder than my job is! And I don't handle it well - ask John!
Raising children is much harder than anything I do!

Wow Beth,
That sux. I couldn't do it. Of course myt family probably whines more pitifully than John does, (3 of them versus 1 of him.)
When I'm gone for a couple weeks it throws everything off for about a month, of course part of that is jet lag. My thoughts and prayers will definitely be with you.

SInce I started traveling last year, my housekeeping has fallen way by the wayside, laundry is a joke, and there are dust bunnies and dust bats everywhere!
I'm not sure how long I can keep this pace up.

Just tell 'em you need a big enough raise to cover a maid service, sweetie!

Maids don't do laundry!

Wow! I totally feel ya on the tribulations of travel! I've been traveling back and forth from Sacramento to Austin since October and flying has become the bane of my existence. I started with Delta and found that they're cool if you're just doing a flight here and there, like a vacation. But if you're flying more than once a month, American is the way to go - more leg room, less stops during flights, and so far I have only been on American flights, they don't share you with Continental like Delta does. :)
Good luck with your travels.
