Airport Rangers in Houston

Eye On The Left has a great post on how the Houston Airport is increasing security.

They are allowing folks with horses (who have gone thru security checks) to ride on trails around the perimeter of the airport. These good people must have cell phones with them and are added eyes to report suspicious activity around the airfield.

Willy, for one, would love to volunteer to do ride around the Kansas City International Airport. He loves sticking his nose into other people's business.

As a frequent flyer, I think this concept should be instituted at many airports surrounded by woods and fields. There is a definite threat that some asshat could shoot down a plane taking off or landing, and this kind of activity can only help to deter those terrorists.

Texas is famous for doing stuff like that. At The Woodlands mall, when I lived there [pause to reminisce] the security were mounted. I loved it. :)

Speaking about site stuff... Yeah, I know we weren't, but there was no clear segue... heh heh...
I finally got my buttons! The ones that are missing up there on the right as I type this... I'll send them to you and in the Comment template and Preview comment template all you have to do is change the file path to whatever it says you uploaded them to... mine now says /archives/bold-button.gif and they work...
:)

Thanks, Pam!! Don't know what I'd do without you!

That's a smart use of the access!

We once enjoyed an occasional lunch hour consuming deli sandwiches on the car hood leaning against the windshield at the foot of SFO's take-off runway. There was always a small band of hardcore aviation nuts, often with a gaggle of kids in tow, cameras clicking, scanners tuned to the crew band. It was fun.

In a Post-9/11 world we no longer have access to the frontage roads. Pity, for as this article proves, more citizen eyeballs on the perimeter of our airports is a good thing.
