dumped dogs
I was late getting off to work this morning, and perhaps there was some cosmic reason for that. On my way into work ( it's a 40 mile drive) two incredibly beautiful Newfoundlands were wandering around in the middle of the road - a 55 mile per hour speed limit road.
They were trying to look in car and truck windows - probably for the asshat who dumped them there.
Me being me, I stopped and got them out of the road and called the County Sherriff's Department. After about an hour, a deputy arrived and the two gentle giants ambled into the back of his police car. He is taking them to the Platte County, Missouri Animal Shelter.

I filed a complaint against whomever it was who dumped them, not that it would do any good, I doubt they will come looking for the dogs.
If I did not already have a full household of critters, I would have brought them home, as I have always wanted a newfie.
I hope that someone kind will want them and adopt them. I will check in a few days to be sure - if not, I'll contact a dog rescue organization to try find homes for them.
sigh. bad people.
Update: The Gentle Giants are back home - about 6 miles from where I found them in the highway - Pam's guess was right - they did have microchips and they were returned home. I'm really very relieved

I hate when that happens. Hopefully, the shelter will find microchips and call the owners who are frantic at the thought of losing their much loved pets.
