My party lost,

I remember that election well. Barry Goldwater convinced me that politics could be an honorable calling, and that conservatism made excellennt sense.

All my liberal friends thought I was nuts. They all told me that if I voted for Goldwater that within six months there would be rioting in the streets of America, that American boys would be dying on Asian battlefields, and that society would be going to Hell.

I, of course, did not believe them, and proudly cast my first vote for Barry.

Saddly, the liberals were right.
