Darfur
In Darfur, genocide is occurring. No doubt about it.
U.S. Ambassador John Danforth, in a chilling recital of abuses in Darfur, said some 50,000 people had been killed, 1.3 million civilians had been uprooted from their homes and 2 million people were in need of relief.
But the UN acts like an ineffective parent with threats that it will probably never carry out - "Oh, stop it, Sudan, you are misbehaving! Stop it right now or we might vote for oil sanctions, you are being naughty and we won't have it" the UN cries.
But Sudan knows that its pal, China will veto any real santions, so it's just like the UN is daddy saying, "do that one more time, Timmy, and I'll punish you, why, I'll take away a toy." While all the while, Timmy knows that mummy won't allow daddy to punish him at all.
And while the UN fiddlefarts around, how many thousands more will be killed by Arab Militias?
Anyone notice a similarity in the hotspots in the world?
