Priceless...

A lady is assaulted and the neighbors come to her rescue.

This story is making the rounds this morning
A Samurai sword-wielding Mormon bishop helped a neighbor woman escape a Tuesday morning attack by a man who had been stalking her.
Yeah, yeah, I understand about bringing a knife to a gun fight, and luckily that was not a factor here.

The description of the look on the face of the attacker when confronted with a sword, however, made my day:

"His eyes got as big as saucers and he kind of gasped and jumped back,"

Frequently, the weapon used for defense matters not at all. It's the resistance itself that blows the goblin's mind.

Good job for ALL the neighbors! This is how communities are suppose to be.

Dennis, I believe you are correct that the weapon does not always matter . Many years ago (few blocks from where I used to live) a young woman was attacked by a man with a knife.  Her screams were heard by an 80-year old woman who came to her rescue and chased the attacker off with her broom.  Although I have to admit that granny with an AR-15 may be a tad more intimidating that granny with a broom.

A Granny with a "Hello Kitty" AR-15 chasing the n'er do well would have been priceless.

The MIND is the weapon, that thing in your paw is a tool.

Go swordsman!

I rather like this line from the article:  "That kind of thing doesn't happen every day," Hendrix said. "Our neighborhood is a pretty quiet place."

Ya THINK?

There are no dangerous weapons, only dangerous people.

There are, however, some weapons that are more scary than others.  A katana in the hands of somebody who knows how to use it definitely falls into the "more scary" category.

Also, it should be noted that this could never have happened in once-great Britain, because "samurai swords" are outlawed there.

Sue- Mic, he has a knife.
Mic - That's not a knife (proceeds to take out his knife), THAT's a knife...just kids having fun.

I recall an article from years ago where a grandmother, who was painting a room in her house, chased off a bad guy trying to climb through her window by slapping him in the face with a loaded paintbrush several times. IIRC the police picked up the painted face bad guy a few blocks away. Go grannie!
